That recent drubbing does not look so bad now after Rovers overran Dundalk 4-0 tonight, albeit a reduced Dundalk side.

Rovers are just a class above the rest it seems.

Hope its the case but maybe Dundalk had any eye on Thursdays Qualifier which will make them a lot of money

Our second last game is against Dundalk and could mean a lot

Dundalk defo has an eye on Europe.
    Hopefully that continues.
If the Blues keep doing what they are doing and keep getting their points the Dundalk game could well be the difference of automatic qualification

It's still a long shot but to finish third Waterford probably have to avoid defeat in Derry and win the rest of their games - including the home game against Dundalk in the second last fixture.

Three of the five remaining home games are against Shelbourne, Finn Harps, Cork and if they don't beat those teams they can't really feel hard done by.

If Dundalk win on Thursday they'll have a massive fixtures pile-up, so I can see them going out of the cup before the final.

With four weeks left in the season there must be a decent chance that Daryl Murphy won't start a game before the end of the season, if he gets back at all.

with our luck we finish 4th and Derry or Sligo will win the cup

We need to keep our heads and take it game by game.

An awful lot hinges on the dundalk game this Thursday. if they win that, they have group games in Europa league starting 22nd October I think, which straight away likely means our game at home to them on Saturday 24th October will have to be rearranged. it would also likely mean that dundalk will have to squeeze as many games as posisble into the 3 weeks before Europa groups games start, which may help us.

but we need to look after our own side of it and show some consistency, hard to know which blues will turn up, the side who beat bohs at dalymount or the side who collapsed against harps and rovers.

anyway, Derry away to Sligo tomorrow night, again hoepfully the extra rest for our lads will help, big game away to Derry Friday evening.

Yeah I think Dundalk would need to get those games done before the end of October rather than extending the season - clubs won't agree to do that especially if it means paying lads for an extra couple of weeks.

Bloody late winner for Sligo tonight against Derry

Must win game for us on Friday, let's hope Derrys heads are down

Crucial late goal for Sligo alright, they move above Dundalk and just 1 point behind us, although we have a game in hand on them. Really set up now for a tight run for the European places, some crucial games coming up for us.

Those 8pts we ****ed away in August could come back to haunt us

Yeah particularly the Harps game, should have been able to close out that game.

Some of these games coming up are huge, cant wait to see them, streaming service is handy, allows us to see all games now in the run in.

Yeah and who would of thought we would be fighting for a top 4 finish after the sligo/harps disasters

The team looks to have gelled now and fight to the final whistle.
Once Daryl is finally fit he will be a big player even if we only get 3/4 games out him this season he will be massive.

Dundalk our league counterparts into the group stages of the Europa League. They will come under fierce pressure now regarding a pile up of fixtures but will still be strong no doubt

Massive Massive game for us tomorrow evening and we must get result. If we beat Derry and then Rovers beat Sligo then things could be looking good for us

Dundalk rode their luck a lot, particularly in the second half.
Hopefully they do well in future fixtures.

1-0 to Derry at half time, really soft penalty decision for Derry just before half time, no way a penalty in my view. had been doing well , possibly the better team

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,386 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

balls its always a hard place to go and try get a result. We played ok and unlucky we lost by 2 penalties

For now are hope is Rovers beat Sligo, a sligo win will put them ahead of us in the table and Dundalk have a few games in hand too

Must must win game next Weekend at home to Shelbourne

    Sligo been torn apart here

Regarding us wins from the next 2 games with Shels (H) Cork (A) is what we need or no Europe for us

Were losing Robbie Weir who is going to Ballymena

Haven’t seen anything official about Weir.
Where’s this info coming from ?

Nothing confirmed yet, but apparently discussions on-going, he wants to be closer to family, so looks like it will happen.

squad is getting thin now between injuries and departures

Hard to say but think we need can sadly say goodbye too europe

Can’t see anything from Matt, I see a post from Murphy alright hardly a credible source.

I don't think we'll finish higher than 4th but that may be enough for Europe if one of the top 3 win FAI Cup which is quite likely. Hopefully there are no hitches this time around with being allowed to play in it.

we aren't out of it yet at all, games against cork and shels to come which are very winnable games.

Just hard to see where the goals are going to come from at the moment, we are missing Michael o Connor up front. we could really do with Daryl Murphy coming good but we have been saying that a while now and still no sign of him even appearing off the bench

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,386 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Cork could be fighting for there lives against us and it would be a nice feeling if we're the ones to relegate them

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,386 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

St Pats beat Cork 2-1 and are now only 1 pt in front of us

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,386 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Little bit of a shock result with Dundalk drawing 0-0 with Finn Harps

Simple we have to beat Shelbourne next weekend

dundalk held to a scoreless draw at home to Finn harps, good result for us.
