    Derry beaten 2-1 by Dundalk

bit of a 50-50 result for us. Dundalk will be all out to beat us on Sunday to basically secure a top 3 finish but 4th place is very much still in our own hands

St Pats have 2 games in hand but they are against Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers Derrys game in hand is against Shamrock Rovers

    crazy league nothing between 4th-10th

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,386 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Massive weekend for us, our form atm suggests we're getting noting from this Dundalk game other than a hammering. Crazier things have happened though and it would a huge huge win

Derry vs Shelbourne taking place tonight and then Sligo vs Cork tomorrow. Draws the best results for us esp with St Pats having so many games in hand

I was unfair on the main thread. Waterford could very do well in Europe, depending on the draw.

Two extra points against Dundalk, one against Harps ( they are dogged) and one against Shels and you were in the driving seat. I said before and I’ll repeat, Pats and Rovers should not have been allowed to postpone matches. Should have forfeited matches they couldn’t fulfill.

very bad result for us tonight Sligo beating (and relegating) Cork 2-1 and now move above us into 4th place

Must win game tomorrow for us now, The Finn Harps loss in Aug along with losing to Shels at home costing us

Ye, massive game for the Blues..
No Munster Derbies to look forward to next season now.. Cork after following Limerick out of the top tier..
Loved going to the Cross and market field.. Great Away days in recent years

Did Waterford FC receive a fee for John Sheridan's services?? Like did they buy out his contract??

Its a pity he didn't stay for a few more weeks, his last game in charge was when we bet Bohs 2-0 and the 5 games after that we won 1,drew 1 and lost 3

Massive rebuild needed for the 2021 season. We should try and get Vinny Perth. John Caulfield would of been a decent replacement but he's with Galway Utd now

    0-0 at HT

playing decent with Daryl Murphy missing a sitter and Dundalk also missing one

ATM we go back to 4th on goal difference but very hard to see us staying there for long when St Pats and Derry play there games in hand

blues win!! 1-0, John Martin goal

What a win, why oh ****ing why didn't we beat Shelbourne a few weeks ago

Closely watching both the cup and St Pats, Derry and Dundalk now for the next 2 weeks. Finn Harps away is always a bollocks of a game and no guarantees we will get the 3 points

With our luck we finish 4th and a bloody outsider will win the cup ha

    Anyway let's enjoy todays result

Great win and who knows what those 3 points will mean come the end of the season. Let's see what happens now. Be an interesting last weekend.

Great result, but need one more, back in with a chance though. It helped that Dundalk didn't look that interested. Thursday nights are their season now.

God help them on Thursday over in the Emirates

Yeah todays win helps us in that were still in it going into the last day. If we finish 4th then the nervous wait for the cup. One of Bohs or Dundalk will be out of it after the QFs. Going through the remaining fixtues the following games are important

Weds 28th Oct- Rovers vs Derry City, Harps vs St Pats
Sun 1st Nov- St Pats vs Dundalk (very important game)
Weds 4th Nov- Rovers vs St Pats

Sun 8th Nov- last day of the season
    Cork City vs Derry City
    Dundalk vs Sligo Rovers
    St Pats vs Bohs
    Finn Harps vs Waterford
(Rovers vs Shelbourne not important for us)

Great win and brings Europe back into the mix.

    Harps beat St Pats 3-2

Bit of a mixed bag result for us. Positive is that's points dropped for St Pats who still have 2 games in hand but those are at home to Dundalk (Sun 1st Nov,massive game for us regarding 3rd/4th) and away to Rovers but negative is that Finn Harps will have something to play for against us on the last day and were no fans of Finn Park either

If only we got more from the last few games but at least we know what we have to do

yeah fairly spot on there I would feel. harps have shels in their sights now and will be well up for it against us, regardless of what happens in harps game in hand v rovers. also the harps pitch cut up badly this evening against pats so it's gonna be a right battle up there in last game.

Finn Harps finish the season with three home games, and then a fourth one in the cup quarter finals - some run in for them.

They come alive at this point every year. Hope they stay up to keep some sort of regional balance in the league

Ollie Horgan is a miracle worker to keep them up year after year on their budget

couldn't but admire the way they go about their business. an astute and capable manager and players that clearly buy into it 100%. They battle right to the end and are getting their reward now, beating bohs and pats in successive games is impressive.

yeah absolutely... we should be full of confidence after beating dundalk and no lack of motivation for either side. Daryl to win the game for us!!

His misses in the Cork and Dundalk game were unbelievable. A child probably would of scored them

In fairness to him he's not played football since League 1 finished up in March. It's a pity that he was injured when he signed, toss of a coin whether he bothers signing next season I'd say. European football would have a big bearing on that.

I like Daryl Murphy, but to be honest he is finished as a player, I remember him scoring a very quick hat trick against Kilkenny years ago, was about 4 minutes, he did his best and made a good career for himself, but it's hard to keep going, especially when he has struggled with injuries. Game time may help, but the season is almost over. Might squeeze one more season out of him, but he owes nothing to anyone, and may decide to retire, considering he is 37 now and has put a lot of effort into his career. Doesn't look sharp, but is still putting the effort in, so it's nothing against him at all, time catches everyone. Finn Harps away is tough, but a win would be fantastic, they will be fresh going into it, as other teams had games in hand, and have played a lot recently. Lots of results have gone in favour of the blues, so win their own game, and it's on. Best of luck to everyone involved as it is such an uncertain time, and we don't see the day to day efforts that are made even to complete the fixture list. Pity John Sheridan didn't hang around, but Wigan are a big draw, only 7 years since they beat Man City in the cup final.

Good enough draw for us if we can secure 4th place. The annoying thing is if we had found the bloody net against Cork and Shelbourne we wouldn't have to worry about the cup. Still Harps is going to be a massive challenge

    Big game for us

Be interesting to see if Harps put out an understrength side today against Rovers and save their best for the game against us..

Of course they'll go for a result today. Home game in atrocious conditions, and they have a full week off until Waterford go up there for the final fixture.

Two draws might be enough to catch Shelbourne and avoid the playoff. Rovers would enjoy sending Shels down in the final fixture too.
