Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I would'nt agree with that, rarely will you see Clyne give the ball away

What I meant was hitting the first man with crosses and basically just running into trouble on the rare occasions when he tries to beat a man etc...

Probably sounds like I'm slagging him off but I actually think he's a decent enough defender, just pretty poor from an attacking point of view.

Clyne has been poor despite his fitness record. He's already starting to remind me of Glen Johnson. Good start then his performance dropped once he realises he has no competition. Milner has outperformed him despite being played out of position. When Klopp did pick him it was out of position against Stoke which he struggled in naturally

Clyne has certainly not been poor.

As a defender, first and foremost, he has done his job quite well.

Reminds you of Glen Johnson in what way? He is more positionally aware than Johnson but not as good a dribbler/crosser.

I think alot of people have let Clyne's lack of cutting edge in the final third blind them from his primary responsbilites and achievements this season.

I'd hate to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

He has become complacent after a good start at the club as he knows he'll be selected regardless. He has been below average going forward & I never feel thst comfortable seeing any of our players defend.
At times a traffic cone would be more positionally aware than Glen Johnson was so it's hardly something to claim is an upside.

Be two hours before the team is announced, yeah?

Hopefully Sturridge and Firmino up top, if the latter is fit.

Klopp to go ultra cautious with a Lucas, Can, Wijnaldum trio of doom in the middle.

So win today and we will finish the season on a 2ppg average and 30+ goals difference we all would have taken that at the start of the season.

Hope we win at the aul football today.

Regarding Clyne, we are rarely targeted on that side.... due to him being a good right back.

His weaknesses in the final third are a small issue, when Mane plays we have plenty threat on the right. With Mane out clyne shouldn't be expected to replace that threat.

A deep lying midfielder who can spray the ball or a midfield 3 that links with the front 3 is what is missing the days that clyne's attacking flaws come to the surface repeatedly.

Milner is no great shakes attacking on the other flank.

Why they are never swapped is beyond me.

I think the problem is that he's played as an attacking full back - really high up the pitch.
It'd be far less noticeable if we played a lot deeper.

He's probably not the right kind of full back for this team.
Moreno is a better fit in style although he's simply rubbish so it doesn't do any good.

Happy with today's line up...we're gonna smash em.

The Main and The Broken Man starting together.

Well at least now we know why The Broken Man never passes and always shoots now because The Main Man's contract leak explains the bonus system at the club.

Origi must have been on a better goal bonus last week than an assist bonus so I understand why he didn't pass.

Yeah. Comfortable 4-0 with a brace from Sturridge which will leave us wondering what could have been when he leaves in the summer.

CSKA winning by 4 and Zenit winning by 1 so that helps us right?

I think he'll still be at the club next season. Even if we do manage to sell him we'll end up subsidising his wages and screw that tbh...just keep him.

I've rated Sturridge so highly since my days of having a season ticket at City when I lived in Manchester and I was delighted we signed him but I can't wait for him to leave this summer.

Clyne needs to become a squad player, not first XI. He's braindead in the final third.

So much wrong and entirely predictable with that first half. Clyne useless beyond the halfway line, cautious passing, pot shots, Lovren doing a Nervol and a very late goal (I'll have to check but it feels like they've scored in added time about 7 or 8 times this season)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,406 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

Job done. Delighted for Klopp and the players - it would have been a shame if they weren't able to get over the line given the position they created. I've more thoughts, lots more, but that's all that really needs to be said for now.
