Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can't remember the last time Mig cleaned an opponent out of it, things are looking up! (Until Burnley)

    We are the weirdest team.

Leicester destroy us with pace up front and the very next match Wenger decides to leave his pace on the bench and start G-Rod up top. See lads, it's not only our manager that names questionable lineup's. Now this game is far far from over with Sanchez still waiting to come on but still.
Also can someone please tell Milner to stop crossing the ball in the air to Mane and Coutinho? It is so obvious now at this stage too which is another minus.

Lallana has really stepped it up today. He's absolutely everywhere. I'm getting worn out just watching him.

Biggest Janus faced team in the league

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,775 ✭✭✭✭Gbear

Well we've turned up so I suppose we can call off the firing squad.

We haven't been brilliant in the main - plenty of sloppiness on the ball in the first 2/3 of the pitch, but there's of course been no lack of effort and we've been really sharp around their box.

Wijnaldum should, I suppose simply not play games away from home. He's been an absolute animal out there. But also really composed. Like some sort of eagle.

I'm a bit puzzled by Arsenal. I thought they'd set up quite well but then we just go and score two goals and they haven't posed any threat.
I guess we're just actually a good team sometimes and you don't need to be particularly appalling to lose to us when we're on song.

Coquelin should be off. I know it was accidental but you can't just go around kicking people in the face. That pull back should've been his 2nd yellow.

They're always capable of throwing together a bit of quality for 20 minutes and banging in 3 goals, so we need to see the same intensity and probably another goal to kill the game off.

We'd win the league with a record points total if we played the top 6 every week.

    Question for Pool fans:

The atmosphere for big games at Anfield has always been great. Since the new stand was built, is it just me or has the ground been very flat since it was built?

Filth from Can there for the yellow

Always helps if the ground is flat before you build a stand.

Nailed on to lose to Burnley next week now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,579 ✭✭✭mormank

That's it. Lallana has been immense today, start to finish. Possibly his best performance for us imo and the same goes for Mane. Also been immense today but doesn't offer as much as he could defensively. Gini also was excellent.
I'm not being funny when I say I am genuinely concerned that we only play 1 more top 6 side before the end of the season. They have been our most consistent source of points all season. :(

There is absolutely nothing I love more than a Gini Wijnaldum goal.

Lallana was unbelievable today, forget about Mane Lallana was MOTM. His pass for the goal was just so him, spins around, spins around, spins around, wonderful through ball. Origi put in an early cross that Clyne could only dream of and Wijnaldum's finish is exactly what we've been missing from our midfield.

It's fecking annoying. I said last weekend that we'd lose to Leicester. So predictable. Played 9 games against the other 5 teams in the top 6. Won 5 and drew 4. Burnley next. But chin up, because it's Man City after that.

Lallana for that third goal...bloody hell how good was that?

Matip needs another Matip beside him and we'd be set. Mane, Lallana, Firmino, Coutinho and Wijnaldum were all class today.

The good news about this game is that it proves Arsenal are as flaky as they have ever been so could yet be vulnerable to the top six/four squeeze, the bad news is that Burnley are next up, but the good news is that they lost today despite looking they they might win at one point so they'll be feeling a little down I suspect. Still only two point away all season.

That block from Matip can not be understated, heroics as much as any attacking player.

That actually ****s me off more than anything. Through a succession of different managers we repeat similar trends.

Can was exactly what we needed him to be too. He may have gone too far and could have been sent off, but he was the perfect amount of dirty and knew just when to commit to a foul.

Know what you mean, even 2.0PPG against the bottom 10 and we'd be laughing.

True, and likewise the standard of goalkeeping and concession of goals

Based on that and the table above, that'd leave us on exactly 80 points. Would be a terrific return alright, but probably too much for us to do at this stage.

I dunno but personally I can't wait for Vanolder to pop in again and remind us all how stupid we are and how he knows best and how he has been proven right and all the rest of his smug nonsense. So Vanolder now that we are in the top 4 again this week does it mean you are wrong now? Something tells me we won't be hearing from him tonight so I'll wait....

No side above 11th has beaten us yet in the PL, it's a good sign if we secure Champions League football based on the step up in opposition. We've already seen Klopp's pedigree in Europe last season against some very strong sides (by Europa League standards anyway), and were only beaten by an outstanding Sevilla team.

Great win and performance, love wijnaldum! But like others have said it's absolutely of no use unless we beat burnley next week and start to kick on. Mad to think how awful weve been since the new year and we sit in third, granted city and spurs play tomorrow. Mad season!
