Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We had this excitement when lovren joined, he was the absolute business and then didn't work out as well as he had played previously, hopefully not a case of history repeating itself

Yeah, but the difference is that this time we're not signing a CB from Southamp.............bollocks.

The thought of actually beating other big clubs to a signing is not real life.

Question is can we still find a way to balls it up?

Well if you wanted to get the highest wage possible a good tactic would be to say the club less likely to give it was your preferred destination. The other club would then have to beat the wages offered by a bigger margin

Let's not forget we also got Matip for free, so it balances out in the end :pac:

There is no market on the exchange that I can see. You can back it on the betfair sportsbook, which means nothing. I'd love to be able to lay all transfer rumours.

So according to that Phil McNulty Twitter the deal will be well in excess of 50m, the premiership has lost the plot.

I'm sure Sakho is in mind as part of the deal, not with Southampton but as a sale that will happen. I expect 25m to be recouped/

But we payed 20m for him, so it's closer to 5m being recouped.

Also Sakho is out injured with ACL damage he may not be fit enough to pass any medical while the transfer market is open this summer.

It could be anywhere from 4-6 months recovery time for ACL damage

Fsg paying top dollar i must be dreaming.

Great to finally see us competing with the big boys for transfer targets. A huge statement if we sign vvd it shows we are back at the top of the table with the big dicks.

Now i am greedy so i want naby keita also

City just trolling, driving up the price and wages

They did that last season when they paid £50m for Stones.

Now £50m seems to be the going rate for a better than average CB because of that Stones deal.

    Done to 1/25 now.
    Looks a deal done.

You can't "recoup" something you didn't spend. If we paid £20m for Sakho and get £25m for him we'll re-coup our £20m and make a profit of £5m.

    Simples - :D

That could go on for every if we look as costs. I prefer to look at it on a season by season basic. We have earned a lot this season from tv along with normal revenue. What ever we paid for Sakho has been absorbed a long time ago .

I like VVD a lot. £55m is obviously too much, but it's not my money. He's a massive upgrade.

    Get it done.

These are the sorts of signings we brought Klopp into make. The type of personality who could help us compete with the big boys.

Let's wait until he's signed before we start talking about swinging dicks and what not!

People were glad we didn't sign him a couple of days ago.

I would not be happy to miss out on him.

Would be over the moon if we get this deal done. Was gutted when he officially joined Man City there yesterday. :)

Hey BTW, the purchase price of players isn't accounted for or "absorbed" within the single season they are acquired , instead the capital cost of the player e.g. the transfer fee is amortised over the length of the players contract because at the end of the contract the player is free to walk and is therefore no longer an asset of the club.

Some light reading on the matter:-

It's a great signing but that is striker money. Were we robbed ?

By the time we start a new thread VVD will have joined Spurs.
