    Great win.
Very worried about Mane's injury. Hope it is not a serious one.

Lucas is streets ahead of Henderson at short passing. The weight, accuracy of the pass and his ability to see people in space anywhere in the final two thirds of the field isn't something Henderson has grasped to the same degree.

It was always his strongest suit.

It's just a shame his body couldn't last the distance because he'd be nailed on if he had a smidgen more pace, energy and could play like this every week.

If we're not beating Everton at home then somethings gone amiss to be honest. Solid but it's what I expected.
We needed these points to be getting on with because we have to take the initiative with all the other games this season and thats not something we've proven we can do.

I do wish we'd get some more protection from refs. This isn't the first time a ref has allowed opponents to try and kick us out of the game in the name of big dumb Ingerlund football bull****.

We saw with Coleman what can happen when the ref "plays to the occasion" and any of Lovren, Mane and Can could've been badly injured.

We have a great chance of top 4.

Utd fans will point to their games in hand but they are actually not that good and have tougher fixtures where they are bound to drop points.

Our run in is the best of all and we could even finish higher than fourth.

Just hope injuries don't mess us up. Hope Mane is back quickly.

Spurs won't win today and arsenal will take something from city so it would suit Liverpool 5 teams fighting for 3 spots as they all have to play each other.

Really hope it isn't an ACL injury. Could be his ankle either hard to tell.

I could be wrong but, doubt it's acl he'd be in agony and definitely wouldn't have walked off, but stranger things have happened

Very likely not an ACL injury anyway.

The third and final sign is seeing Sturridge back on the pitch.

We could do with him right now, though it seems Divock is more likely to step up in times of need.

Injuries hitting us hard enough without trying to play with 10 men.

Spurs has a battle on their hands.

Already lost Wanyama through injury and now Winks is receiving treatment on the sideline.

    Edit: has now been replaced.

Sahko playing well for CP too...

    Ashley Williams is shiiiiiitttttt.

Barkley isn't good enough at any one thing to be good and his overall quality isn't good enough to be a good jack of all trades.

He's just totally average in every way. The purest essence of overrated English mediocrity.

At least with players who're outshone on a technical level by their European counterparts, like Lallana and Henderson, they're good enough to stay in touch and can run anyone they come up against into the ground.

Well United draw at home. 6 behind us now with 2 games in hand but some very difficult games left for them.

Arsenal or City to drop points tomorrow. Maybe even both. Wondering if it might be even better for us at this stage for Arsenal to get beat. Don't see City missing out on top 4. Arsenal lose and they are 9 behind us with 2 games in hand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,105 ✭✭✭mada999

nice result there except for the spurs one.... they keep on going :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,482 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Spurs 7 behind Chelsea now, and Chelsea have a nightmare April, City, United,Everton, Bournemouth who are so strong at home.
If they don't win them all Spurs will close to 3pts . If Liverpool win 5 in a row we can get within 5 pts with with 3 games to play.
All fiction but you never know in this game.

I think we need to win the nearly all of our remaining games to secure top 4.. UTD no out of it yet at all....

I saw a stat on reddit that TAA had more shots today than Lukaku has in his last 3 games against us.

Might've just been taking the piss though.

At any rate, he's mostly been a non-event against us.

Well no way are we winning all our remaining games. Don't think we'll have to either. Too many games left between the other sides and they'll take points off each other.

Probably need 6 wins from the 8 remaining I'd say or around the 17 point mark to be sure.

Wish Spurs would start dropping some points but they keep winning even without Kane.

Can't see City missing out with the games they have left.

Looks like 4th could come down to Liverpool v United v Arsenal.

I think United's fixtures are just too difficult. Some very tough games left. They could win them but doubtful.

It's our injuries that worry me more than anything right now.

Hopefully mané isnt out for long and we get the other boyos back..

Arsenal and Chelsea away and United??????

They might not lose those games but they could certainly drop points.

With all the pretend jinx crap aside I honestly think we are probably favourites to finish 3rd from City United and Arsenal.

IMO Spurs and Chelsea are top 2. Spurs could eventually fall to third at the end like last season but it wont matter.

City United and Arsenal have an uphill battle to take third from us.

That been said we will drop points

What happens if we do spend big in summer and we do sign a striker who is first name on team sheet, and we do sign a quality midfielder and a centre back.
Will Firmino be happy to be on bench week in week out, will Henderson be happy to keep him company, will Lovern also be happy. The last thing we need is squad players, the squad players are already here playing week in week out. Firmino is great, but if we sign striker then he's out of side and will stay out.

A lot of games if we are in europe next season. I think there would be plenty of rotation

There was a period before/during Xmas when he could have been rested, he was putting in the effort but he wasn't the sharp Fun Bobby for a long spell, ending in a drink driving charge. Throw in a few CL games too and he'd be shooting up in a homeless shelter.

IN cup games maybe. Would be hard to drop quality in Champions League if we are in it.
Will Firmino and Co be happy with a run out against a non league side away from home in Pepsi Cola Cup. The next step that we seem unwilling to take for years now requires us to drop Firmino, drop Henderson, drop Lovern, drop Midnolet and put them all on bench and sign quality players to replace them and to turn us into a formidable side with no weaknesses.

Bobby would be just as effective off the striker.

Our approach play can be a little one dimensional at times so I think another option centrally in behind or who could hold the ball up (making it 3 with Firmino and Mane) would take more pressure off midfield.

Hendo and Lovren seem to get injured a lot.

I'd expect us to have a less static lineup with a more horses for courses approach.

Tough games (top 6 at home, top 10 away)

    ST/Bobby
    ---Bobby/Coutinho
    Mane
    Hendo/Lallana
    Wij----DM/Hendo

    Medium games
    St/Bobby
    ---Coutinho/Bobby--Mane
    Lallana/Hendo
    DM/Hendo--Wij

    Games against ****e
    ST
    Bobby----Mane
    Coutinho
    ---Hendo-Wij

And a young LW to cover Bobby/Coutinho and a new LB who gives us some proper width down the left.

With Europe and injuries I think everyone would see plenty of game time.
