Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Two seasons in a row now we've lost our most in form player thanks to Everton

Different situations. This one was a total accident.

To be honest there was a few horrible tackles in the game which could have left us in a worse position. Ironic that they lost Coleman to a bad injury. They should know bettet

Of course, but that had nothing to do with Mane's injury.

Bet he was a Liverpool fan, heard those guys are the worst in the world!

Unless he was singing the 'bad' seamie Coleman song as he approached the car I doubt it was a REAL lfc fan.. coz we all sing that song now apparently.

Great, now you've got that song going through my head.

You really are a Liverpool fan and a terrible human being. :pac:

Mane or no Mane, we still have to win the games.

Someone should tell Klopp and the players this new fact. It'll change EVERYTHING!

    It's all about the Mané!

It's a very good time for Coutinho, Origi and Can to have gotten a good performance under their belts in recent days. A midfield without Mane, Hendo or Lallana isn't going to create much.

Really need the 3 points tonight. Our next two fixtures are Stoke away and WBA away. Given the players we are missing I can't see us taking 6 points from those two games so 3 tonight is vital.

If we dont win this I will lose it.
We will win though. 2-0 Liverpool.

Well Origi has been talking a lot in the press saying he's as good as Lukaku but he's not getting the game time and that he's not one for the future he's one for now.

Now he gets his chance to prove it. I like him but its a massive ask to replace our best player this season. Forget about Sturridge. I don't think he'll start a game for the club again.

Not in this country, nope. Internet sources ahoy.

From what I can gather from this http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/04/05/liverpool-banned-signing-academy-players-two-years-illegal-approach/ - this is the timeline of events.

    1) Liverpool & Stoke had agreed for the transfer of an 11 year old.
    2) Liverpool offered & match tickets to the 11 year & his family.
    2) Liverpool then meet family and offer private school tuition.
    4) PL rules have recently changed that all academy players must have same education so they would have to pay for the same education for all other players so decide against it.
    4) Liverpool realise the rule change and change their offer, removing private school tuition and inform PL.
    5) Family become unhappy about the reneging of the school education and investigation begins.
    6) PL find out about match tickets through this, and this is the catalyst for the ban, not the actual offering & reneging of the school education at is allowed, but match tickets and expenses are not.
    7) Liverpool comply with investigation and get ban.
    8) Ban applies on signing academy players that have spent 18 months at another academy, but not underage first team players.

We've seen in the past when he gets a run of games he starts scoring regularly. But it always seems to end very abruptly as well.
If he can get that form for the rest of the season I'd be happy.

It is bad news for the academy. U23's only had 4 subs against Norwich on Monday. It will be harder for youngsters like Ojo & others to get loan moves.

Don't think it's that bad. Liverpool can still sign youngsters if they scout them but just not from other club's academies for one year.

    It will soon pass.

At least it has not led to other types of transfer bans that could impact on summer activity.

Reports floating around that Mane is out for 8-10 weeks.

To be honest this ban is actually pretty much no sanction at all, it doesn't apply to EU state signings who are 16, any player who is at least 17 and can sign a professional contract and the 2nd year is suspended anyway. Meanwhile for the U16s and below the current roster has a slightly better chance to develop than would have otherwise been the case.

What constitutes an academy player, Is there an age cut off point?

17 is when you can go professional and technically you cease to be academy level. Obviously it depends on a contract being offered but I can see the club simply looking at 17 year old players who they'll make professional from the signing.

It shouldn't set us back much so, thankfully.

We should still be beating Bournemouth at Anfield with that team.

No excuses. Time to press home our advantage over Man United and Arsenal.

If Coutinho plays like he did on Saturday, we'll win. It's games like tonight when he has to shoulder that burden.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,987 ✭✭✭Kerrigooney

All considered that's a good team and very decent bench.

I believe we'll lose. It'd be nice if we didn't.

With Arsenal and City having two tough games against West Ham and Chelsea tonight we have an excellent chance to put some distance between us and them.

    Markovic scored Hull's opening goal.

    Mason is such a ^)^)&*^)$*_

Anyway still in this game somehow as Bournemouth should have scored twice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,775 ✭✭✭✭Gbear

I'd expect this standard of ****e refereeing, where the opposition has free reign to kick lumps out of us, away from home, but seeing it at Anfield is bewildering.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,928 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

    Genuinely playing well this half.

Not perfect, but considering who's missing, the interplay, movement and individual sharpness has been good.

Great to see Origi coming into form just when we need him.
