Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Indeed, we are 3rd in the PL :)

Spurs winning 4-0 currently so realistically its either 3rd or 4th spot now. Not looking toward to today at all tbh.

    Terrible starting Xl

I'd be worried with that lineup.

    Klopp is taking a gamble.

The match is on Sky Sports 5.

Is this the first time we've started with none of Mane, Coutinho, Lallana, or Firmino?

I would take a draw now if offered. Fear the young lads will get bullied off the pitch

    Big time.

If we lose this he'll get a pasting from the fans.

We're always going on about him not using the young fellas so now they need to step up and in fairness Woodburn and TAA have both been very good any time they've played. I nearly had a heart attack when I first saw the line up but I'm looking forward to it now.

Probably the last place you'd want to be throwing out the young lads. Fingers crossed.

Does he have any choice? Missing 5 of our better players. All midfielders/attackers.

Milner back in the middle by the looks of it too. Been awhile since he's played there but at least we won't be as predictable on the left

Well Wednesday was an error but they don't do that all the time.

The negativity on this thread is draining.

they've been doing it a while - nearly did it first game of the season

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,379 ✭✭✭hefferboi

Will TAA play on the wing or as a full back?

    Nearly won Wednesday though.

    Don't really see the gamble.

Coutinho is dead and Firmino has looked near enough the last few games.
We've 6 more games after this that we'll need them for.

    Sturridge is finished.

We have had a lorry-load of injuries but any mistakes made were in the summer/winter when we didn't get another midfielder or forward.

If wishes were fishes, etc. Far more likely that we'll draw at home to Bournemouth and lose to Stoke.

45 mins to go here, but I wish I wasn't so sure I was going to be right when I posted this.

What a woeful performance. Embarrassing that 2 17 year olds are outplaying the rest of the senior players. No fight from anyone.

Would love to see our long balls stats since Christmas. It's all we seem to do against the bad teams.

    Soul destroying.

Well that was like Pulis Stoke unfortunately. Klopp really needs to knock this three at the back on the head, can't do that sort of major tactical switch when its this late in the season with so many of the best players missing. It just creates uncertainty. Clyne is nowhere to be seen, Milner is probably confused as well.

Looking at that lineup even with our injuries maybe Klopp has just accepted that we'll get nothing from today and has given a rest to a couple of players and is trying out a new system?

Anyway, probably the worst 1st half i've seen from us all season and there was a few stinkers in there.

Easy to give out about something after the fact, you're great at it.

We lose this we can forget about 4th

Christ i hate the way American/Canadian presenters feel the need to look at the camera(me) every few seconds, it feels odd!

Bloody hell Matip. If you are the central defender and move out wide to block a cross from touchline you should be making yourself as big as possible and cutting out the angle of the cross.. instead he shirks it and turns away ffs

Whenever we play with 3 central defenders we look as though we are playing with no central defenders

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,775 ✭✭✭✭Gbear

This team is ****e and it's pretty much all we have available.

****e teams can't be expected to go to places like Stoke and win.

We started the season with the 6th best squad and the 6th best 11.
It isn't rocket science to figure out what happens when we're found out.

Of course, the injuries don't help matters either.
Managing players' fitness is part of the bargain. You can't just play your best team on paper every week with no further considerations.

Within the first 5 minutes I'd decided I'd be happy to scrape a draw. That hasn't changed.
This team doesn't have the quality, the experience, the coherence to play the way we've come to expect from a Klopp Liverpool side. Getting a lucky break like Woodburn nearly wrangled half-way through the half or a set piece is just about the best we have to hope for as things stand.

We do, of course have the other 2 available, but I doubt it'll be for the full half.

The gamble started back in August by going into a season with Milner, Moreno and Klavin as our choices for Left back. I've no problem with Milner but he's not a LB.

You mention that we needed recruitment in attack and midfield but the defence has been our downfall and particularly the LB position.

I seen that from Matip alright, Klavan missing a tackle on the edge of the box and Lovren having a chill for himself did'nt help either.

3 ****ing CB's and walters gets a free header 4 yards out, and not a pool shirt within 6 yards of him, ****ing shocking defending.

True, but we've by and large gotten by there, whereas we're playing the reserves up front today.

I don't think we've every really wanted for a senior full back (assuming Milner ticks that box).
Milner hasn't done great but it hasn't been a single point of failure in the way losing Mane has been to our attack.
We're regularlly short up front or in midfield (depending on how Lallana is shuffled around).

    Absolutely massive win today.

Now if you don't mind I'm off to a dark room to replay firminos goal over and over.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,022 ✭✭✭✭Iused2likebusts

That's our best win of the season IMO. 100% expected dropped points today. Hopefully hendo and llalana are back next week.

Mig had a great game, I think he may be fixed when it comes to "manning up"

Firmino's punt is the goal of the month, maybe the season as a one move strike.
