State non contributory pension...help

Hi,

My dad died recently and now my mother is really worried she will lose all her income. She currently gets state non contributiry pension of 200 approx per week. After will goes through she will have approx 100k savings. She has no other income. Any idea what she is now entitled to? Any help would be really appreciated.

Sorry for your loss OP. The links below give info re the widow(er)'s pension. Have a read and see what one applies to your mum.

In short, if you Dad was in receipt of Contributory pension you mother will, in effect, inherit his Contributory pension via the Widow(ers) pension. This is not means tested.

This is what happened with my mother a few years ago. She was a "qualified adult" on my Dad's pension (http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/irish_social_welfare_system/claiming_a_social_welfare_payment/claiming_an_increase_in_your_social_welfare_payment_for_an_adult_dependant.html )

OP specifically mentioned that they were getting the non-contributory pension so it's unlikely that the mother can get any contributory allowance and whatever she does get will be means-tested.
