I know someone who took on an asylum seeker as a HAP tenant. He was happy with the rent and the this family were legit asylum seekers coming out of direct provision. You think the state would be delighted to have these people out of DP too.

So he filled out the paper work. The rent didn't come. He started chasing the tenants for the rent. They want to office to get it sorted out. I kid you not, they were told to come back in 2/3 months. They were living in that house for almost 2 months by then. The landlord was expected to house these people without a rent cheque for 6 months. He finally got a cheque for 3 months rent 4 months after they in when the welfare office heard he was starting eviction proceedings.

The system is so ****ed up that not even asylum seekers with no savings or family can't get housing here.

OP email every TD in Dublin and tell them your issue. TDs need to realise that they can't expect the private market to house tenants that the Government isnt arsed housing, then makes it super hard for these tenants to get properties to rent. You should be living in purpose built social housing, instead the Government wants you to live in a private market housing but doesnt want to pay the market rent.

Most TDs are super naive about how bad welfare is.
