Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Buying a Golf - need advice

Currently have a 06 Golf but looking to upgrade to a 2010/11/12 Golf.
Wondering whether there are any significant reasons why I'd pick one year over the other apart from cost? E.g. 2011 Golfs are very problematic. Or are they all relatively similar aside from age?

They are all pretty much the same. 2012 would have been the last year of Mk6 Golf so you might get better standard equipment levels. The other advantage being that most of the problems with that model would have been ironed out at that stage. Best avoid basic Trendline models are they are pretty dire with regards equipment levels.

Was looking at a 2012 highline so I suppose my question was actually if there's any downsides to the 2012 models. Thanks !

    Petrol or diesel?

Petrol. Think there's a 1.2 and 1.6 option. Could be wrong.

1.2, 1.4 and 2.0 litre options in petrol.

Those TSi engines can suffer from timing chain stretching but VW have been known to offer goodwill towards the cost of replacing it depending on the age, mileage and service history.
