I just read this in the Limerick Leader and am shocked that in this day and age a person that assaults a Garda is being offered the cash for no conviction option.

Its exactly these type of cases that allow people think that can treat people as they want.

Its disgraceful. If he chose to do that to a female Garda i wonder how he treats the other women in his life.

When we read in the media of low morale in the Garda Siochana, it's very easy to understand why, when this sort of wanton thuggery directed towards them is treated with such a relaxed attitude, reflected in the light punishment handed down.

Assaults like this should attract a mandatory prison sentence regardless of what the civil liberty brigade say. If we can't treat our police with respect it doesn't say much for our society.
