After spending around 15 mins on hold spoke to a helpful guy who knew the score, didn't even bother trying to dissuade me from moving €30 sim only, whole process took about 2 mins once I had gotten through. Thanks op for the steer!

I've now been told that all customers will be receiving a text about this by the end of today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 273 ✭✭noble00

If they send the text at least everyone will know who is affected cause I can't get anywhere with webchat

And very fishy that its not here http://www.three.ie/customer-notification/ where three are supposed to put their customer notifications

15 mins on hold. Call itself lasted a minute. Very pleasant and quick. All sorted. Contract canceled and had 14 months left @55 a month! Thanks OP

Going by a per day charge, 365 days on 3pay prepay will cost €260.71 assuming you top up on the day your benefits expire, compared to €243.33 currently for the same.creiteria.

It's €17 per year, nothing too bad. What really gets me is losing the free weekend calls.

What will make up for this is not having to buy a SIM card in Spain in order to use data.

I've faced more extreme price increases than this.

same - its not a huge price increase really but for me its the weekend calls that i really used. I think i will move to Virgin Mobile, their unlimited plan 25e a month, unlimited calls/texts/data suits me!

I had the same experience. 15 mins hold, 1 minute phone call. No hassle.

I was very firm and didn't accept the offer to move to sim-only 30-day contract, based on the poor coverage in my area. Otherwise I would have accepted.

Just to confirm, this is only mobile? Has it affected the home internet?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,203 ✭✭✭Parchment

I am 3 Pay as you go and so is my boyfriend. I got the text informing me of the changes - he didnt. So maybe not everyone is being told about this?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 273 ✭✭noble00

Yeah I have been with them a few years

    Home internet?

Three only offer mobile services, are you sure you don't mean mobile broadband? In which case you are affected.

I have mobile broadband with them, 250gb a month plan, and I cancelled it no problem. I said that the removal of roaming from the plan meant it was no longer suitable. No problem at all with them. Cancelled without question.

My friend got the text and forwarded it to me, I haven't got it yet, so it appears not everyone has been told yet.

Yeah it's mobile broadband, through a dongle. I thought home internet would make it more distinctive than phone plans as it's not a phone.

I never got any text/notice but I still cancelled. When asked, I just said I read my contract will increase on your website.

One poster reported that he canceled both phone and home internet, sorry can't find the post now.

Here #260 just back a page.

I just called - I am on an old O2 transfer account, so my €55 per month 'is not affected by the charge'.......damn!

Still stuck in contract until August 2017.

Best of Luck y'all. Am jealous!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 917 ✭✭✭gazzaman22

Im currently on a price plan that i had 8 years ago.
Its 19 euro a month, I see no option to see if it is going to change.... Anybody else check this out that has the price plan?

Might save me the hassle of trying to get on to them.

I'm, also due an upgrade from the 09/03/2017..... What should i do here....???? upgrade fone to latest and opt for a big contract...then when i receive it....can i cancel???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 71,411 ✭✭✭✭L1011

18 mins holding and first call disconnected. Second call was delayed due to the cancellation system being slow. Must be being hammered.

I'd say so. I know someone who gets awful coverage at home despite 3's claims to have full signal and is very keen to cancel.

Yes you're affected by the increase.

I doubt they'd stop you cancelling based on that, my point was that not everyone would be aware.
Maybe it's tactical, stop everyone calling at the same time

I got the same answer when I called. I never thought to ask if the change in roaming terms and conditions effects the old O2 customers and would this suffice to cancel? !

That, or just batch sending them in phases.

Is anyone calling up and cancelling their current contract and then going to the 3 Mini Flex Max 100 (was €25, now going to be €30 a month)?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,719 ✭✭✭JaMarcusHustle

Not applicable to ex-O2 customers apparently :(

    My plan is the:

    4G Access Promotion
    Unlimited Domestic Minutes & Texts
    8GB Data

Which is €55 a month. I've been told this isn't changing. I'm absolutely desperate to get out of my contract as reception is so poor

Just called three. On hold for less than a minute and moved three numbers top SIM only. Very helpful and all done ion less than 2 minutes.
Saves me nearly €50 a month and out of three long contracts!!

They told me the price increase will more than likely come into effect for O2 customers about a month after the three increase

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 132 ✭✭carlaboi

I'm due an upgrade and was going to stick with three, just wondering if I still go ahead say this week with an upgrade will I be able to pull out of my contract before April?

Is everyone just changing to SIM only plans on PAYG?

A lot of us seem to be leaving entirely. There is better value available, and their coverage has gone to crap since the merger.

Rang three just now. I had 12 month contract remaining on Classic Flex Max 350 and I was off the phone in under 3 minutes and have switched to 30 day SIM only plan and my phone unlocked!

Did you get your phone unlocked straightaway? I was told 3 to 4 days to get the unlock code for my iPhone!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,483 ✭✭✭SweetCaliber

Awesome, just cancelled 2 numbers, saving myself 1760, delighted :)

I'm about halfway through a 24 month contract. In an unfortunately timed accident I seriously damaged my phone yesterday. If I cancel with 3 bill pay and move to prepay sim only will I also void my insurance?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 779 ✭✭✭HONKEY TONK

    What im amazed about

If I was to pay €5 extra a month it would have cost me an extra €80 over the 16 month I had left.

Due to their price rise and the greatest Bargain Alert ( Thanks OP ) I have now saved €960 by cancelling

    Sweet.

Just got out of contract, no questions asked.

    Cheers op.

Was told you could get unlock code from the 3mobile website....didn't check/ask where exactly however, has anyone else done it this way? Didn't seem that it was going to be a problem anyway, the fella I dealt with had a resigned air about him.

I'm going to call up on my lunch break and see if I can go from my current contract (€40.66 going to €45) to the €25 (going to €30) contract. It'd save me €15 a month and I can go on a 12 month instead of the 24. I live in a rural place where our home internet is useless so I need the all you can eat data which I can't get on other providers. But I do agree that the coverage can be shocking sometimes. E data signal in the middle of Galway city!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 126 ✭✭bikerjohn

    Just changed from 40 € to 30 € a month happy days

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 604 ✭✭✭Goolay

Bah - got very excited by this. 8 months into a 24 contract and my coverage is shocking. 60% of the time in the ground floor of my house I'm on Emergency Calls Only and have to run up to the attic to take a call it's so bad.

Rang them and my plan isn't affected by all this - Three Business Essential.

    Waaaah.

Why not just go on a 30 day rolling contract so you can cancel anytime ?

It will still cost 30 euros

I don't understand that 02 customers can't change surely the new roaming charges will apply to us aswell anyone know
