Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Imported Outlander PHEV, Eligible for Free Home Charger?

    Hi Guys,

I bought a 2nd hand Leaf about 4 years ago which I brought in from the UK and got a free home charger from ESB for.

<1 year ago I sold this and bought an Outlander PHEV again from UK. As I already had a home charger I never bothered applying for one for this car. I'm now likely to be selling this in the next month or so.

My question is would the new owner of this be eligible to sign up for a free ESB home charger as I did not avail of one for this car?

As far as I'm aware each suitable EV or PHEV registered here is eligible for one, but as I say it's several years since I got my one installed so the rules may have changed or they may not be running this offer any more.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Robert

I'm surprised you got a free one 4yrs ago. The rules must have changed as they are only giving out the free charge points now when you buy a new car from an SIMI registered dealer.

2nd hand or imported don't get a free charger.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

I have no idea how you got a free home charger from the ESB for your imported car?

You only get one when you buy a new EV / PHEV car in Ireland.

Thanks, I think back then it may have been just done on the basis of if you registered any new EV that had not been registered here before you were eligible. I think I was somthing like car 300 so there probably was not huge uptake at the time!

Anyway good to know, I guess new owner will need to get their own charge point.

Having bought new y-day and now knowing what you get as free: 16A/untethered it is way over priced and while I still would have bought new, the free install would not have been a deal breaker. HOH
