Ceque clearing

I had ceque sent in to my solicitor and she asked weather i want to pick it up or she transfers money to my account this was last Thursday. Was told it will be lodged in to their account and ill get transfer in 5 days time. Today aperantley still hasnt been cleared. It all sounds very very dodgy. Can ceque really take that…
