    Anybody out there know how much pressure do you use to tighten the forend of a semiauto shotgun.

    Assume you mean the fore end cap? By and large,hand tight...If you need a pipe wrench to loosen or tighten it,something is very wrong.:P

    Yes. The cap. What is the function of the forend. Is it just something to hold or is has it another function.

    Hand tighten that all. Tighten till it's tight then 1/8 of a turn

    Yep, as above, hand tight.

    Don't worry if this seems very little in the way of mechanical lock up for a gun, it is in fact the locking of the bolt into the breech when the gun is in battery that takes all the force when the shell discharges.
    The fore end serves as you said as a grip but in the case of semi autos conceals and issolates various mechanisms and actions such as compressing springs, sliding bars / rods and venting gas ports. Areas that neither you or the gun are compatible with if you should come into direct contact.


    Forgive if teaching to suck eggs......but it's raining out and I'm already suffering withdrawal symptoms...

    If you ever have problems tightening something , wrap it around the threads.
