Rumble of thunder in Athlone, preceeded by a heavy shower.

Weird sky though. From up close it doesn't look like it should have produced much of anything. Just a slightly darker patch of light cloud away north of us now

Sky actually looks thundery now - so that means we wont get any :)

Cell popped up over south Derry, came out of nowhere!

There was about 10 strikes over Waterford/Tipperary but it died out to nothing. Last strike was in Wexford it seems.

Slight risk of thunderstorm development 4 pm to 7 pm in north-central Leinster, most likely areas about Navan to Drogheda, north Kildare and north Dublin could be brushed by cells but greatest chance appears to be in Meath. Dynamics are weak but certainly warm and humid enough. Peak time potential appears to be 5-6 p.m.

Watching radar for cell development, nothing to report yet.

Temp rising in navan last few mins. But heading back to Dublin.. Hoping to get some kinda action.

Cell to my east... Towards Dublin.... Looks like it may have broken the cap. Looking at a tower shoot up to my south. I'm near Enfield.

Cloud towering over Tipp behind the front

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,913 ✭✭✭Danno

Two cells over NE Tipp on the last radar at 6.15pm Sky is dark to my west but too hazy to make much out. Also gone dark over the Portlaoise direction too.

Noting that met.ie radar was not updating past hour, have seen good radar development using weathercast, cells appear to be heading northeast towards north Kildare.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,671 ✭✭✭Darwin

Yes clouded over here south west of Portlaoise, temps have dropped a good bit though and it has gotten rather hazy and difficult to see what is happening.

They said on the 6pm televised forecast that the east will stay dry, so they turned off the radar when they saw the cells developing. What rain?

Intensifying cells over north Kildare heading for north Dublin and east-central Meath.

  • Registered Users Posts: 313 ✭✭spoonerhead

Nothing on the met website but this is the seen in south Dublin.

    Getting dark in city west.

It's gonna hit Dublin somewhat, but it's fairly benign. A quick sprinkling before it heads off into the Irish Sea and intensifies there instead.

It's just started raining in Clondalkin.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,467 ✭✭✭jimmynokia

    Hail now in city west
