    And here comes the rain, big drops of it too! Not great with weather terms but love the weather! :) Haven't seen a storm in years!

    That cell just off Baltimore West Cork looks like it could track up towards Limerick or even W.Clare.

    I may have to put my earlier scepticism on hold for the next few hours :o

    South!
    Timelapse early on while there is still some day light, then video!

    There's is some activity starting in the Irish Sea too, so who knows what direction it will come from (if it does at all).

    Just inland of hook head.
    Good spot for storm watch especially coming from that direction

    I hope that's tracking North, in North West Wicklow and it should hit us nicely.

    That huge cluster of strikes lines up with precipitation heading for the south around half 11 as far as I can make out. Hopefully it continues to produce lightning like that when it gets here!

    This is completely useless most of the time, and especially useless in a convective situation like this. All it does is take a snapshot of the current radar image and moves it according to wind direction.

    Well I use it a lot & find it reasonable for typical rain. It's better than nothing. It extends the existing track & has nothing to do with wind

    Where do you get this map, if you don't mind me asking :)

    Ok maybe it's not "completely useless", but I'm warning of it's crudeness.

    And it doesn't extend the existing track. That large area of precip to the SW of Cornwall has barely moved all day, yet that map has it all suddenly tracking NW in the direction of the wind.

    Yes, the Irish Sea is beginning to fire off. The interest is not so much the direction of those particular cells but more about which new locations destabilization is beginning to occur in. The Irish Sea activity is promising since it shows that well ahead of midnight, the atmosphere is becoming conducive for deep convection even as far north as Wicklow / Dublin. Which hopefully bodes well for people further north.

    Netweather http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=lightning;sess= ( the one I use is a subscription service for more detail and records )

    This is good also http://en.blitzortung.org/live_lightning_maps.php?map=12 and https://www.lightningmaps.org/?lang=en#m=sat;r=0;t=3;s=1;d=2;a=2;dc=0;o=0;n=0;y=52.083;x=-7.0561;z=9;b=0.00;dl=2;
