Portugal - Foreign and Borders Services & Rental Receipts

I have booked a villa in the Algarve this summer, I have been many times before. The landlord emailed me asking for my personal details which he is claiming they required per the' portuguese government Foreign Information Form for SEF Foreign and Borders Services & Rental Receipts'. Details include, passport number, expiry date, home address, etc...  I am not going to give this information to someone I don't know. I gooogled it and from what I've read, this Foreign Information Form is required for if an EU citizen plans to stay in Portugal for more than 3 months. I have emailed him telling him that this does not apply to me (we are staying 10 days only). I have not had a reply yet.
Has anyone else come across this request?

I have booked an apartment in Tavira Portugal for a few weeks time. I wasn't asked any of the above questions. I find that a lot of apartment owners can be very anal about all sorts of stuff. I usually move on pretty quickly when I encounter this type of behaviour. I find that renting apartments owned by Brits are usually plain sailing and apartments owned by the French are the worst to deal with.

HI, I am having the same experience with an apartment in the Algarve.

Having read the information on

https://www.expatica.com/pt/moving/visas/portugal-immigration-policy-for-eu-efta-citizens-and-family-members-936493/

I am slow to provide this information to a private individual as I have no guarantee my data will be secure.

@Juran how did you get on with your apartment owner.

Hi Jim,

I had to give the info in the end to secure the apartment. IN fact this year we are going to Algarve again, airbnb for 2 weeks, and I was sent a link to complete the information again. It wasn't an airbnb link - it was like a department of tourism link, I can't recall, but it did look offical, but I would prefer there to be guidelines as to who collects the info, why, etc.. ... anyway I gave the info just to get the apartment or else they would cancel my booking. I had to give passport number and expiry date.
