Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

CVRT emissions

I have an '08 Transit connect that is due a retest on emissions tomorrow, everything else passed. I put Dipetane in the tank last week at the recommended rate and the van has been running well since though it is still smoky on a cold start. Last service was six months ago although i have been told this makes no difference on emissions.

The mechanic at the test centre said to put the whole bottle in and take it 30 or so miles down the motorway making sure the engine is hot before the test.

Someone has told me a better idea would be to put a litre of petrol in the tank (quarter full) and it is sure to pass.

Would petrol damage the engine ?

    Advice appreciated

    Thanks

The tester is spot on. Make sure the engine is roasting hot before the test. I too had issues, stuck dipatane in and got the engine roasting - Pass

    No don't put in petrol

Thanks, after doing a little research it seems it worked well on the older diesels but can cause problems on the newer ones with the fuel pump particularly. it seems to be burning a bit cleaner now, no smoke on start.
