Hi, I'm looking to lay paving in an area of my back garden which is currently grass. I've a load of old cavity blocks which I was thinking of using as the base for the paving after removing about 9 inches of the grass and soil, any thoughts/advice?

Hire a con-saw and slice the blocks into two or three layers horizontally and they will go further, and not require so much excavation. This is what I was thinking of doing myself, to replace an area of bad tarmac with permeable paving.
