The other big stage race of the week/month kicks off today. Probably no need for a new thread everyday, and there will be spoilers.

    It's being shown on Eurosport

Stage 1 is a TTT, pan flat.

I've not much to say on it, but a Sky rider's wheel just failed spectacularly and they've had a fairly miserable TTT

The wheel failure was really something to see. Glad to see the rider got up from it.

So much for lateral stiffness! Big q mark on those trispokes! Lucky he was not hit or ran over by the team car!

How to pick yourself up and keep going when it all falls apart...

what brand wheels do they use?? Will be avoiding them

Just read artile on cyclingnews - http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/wheel-failures-decimate-team-skys-tirreno-adriatico-ambitions/

Three wheels failed on them!!! Excuse that they hit holes. Those roads looked better than anything in Ireland! Shimano tri-spokes to be avoided it seems

Thats ridiculous, "of course it wasnt our sponsors lovely wheels, it was our fault at not being able to ride aroud holes that no other team hit"

Seems the cycling gods are angry that the best the Sky riders could do was declare 110% for Dave Brailsford. 110% is hardly even trying ffs.

Sky just can't get away from seeking out those marginal gains...

True, we've no idea of what percentage his support of Brailsford is. Could be anything from 0% up to say 235%. Frustrating not knowing.

Just watched highlights of Stage 5. The sprint finish was like a man against a group of boys. Sagan made it look so easy. The others simply didn't have a chance! :D

I had read that there was an incident involving a dog so I presumed a dog had run out on to the road or something like that.... so I can't believe that the owner with a dog on a leash was the issue!
