We need something, anything, against Bray

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Even this early in the season, that's a big game between Finn Harps and Galway...

I'd agree... Have to expect both to be in the relegation mix. Being at home we definitely need to be targeting 3pts.
Pats & Sligo both badly need points on the board too, don't think either are safe from the fight... If any team ends up with ground to make up they will find it very difficult.

No hope for us against Cobh.

Crap result altogether, can't be conceding 3 after being 2 up and seemingly comfortable!

Probably a bit hyperbolic. They're favourites for sure.

    City and Dundalk top already.

Rovers fail to live up the the hype.

Lucky to get a point. Can see how we conceded 5 against Bray. Once we scored we went to sleep. Anyone have a miracle cure for knee injuries, badly need Cowen back!

Another great result for us in Tallaght.

Valuable 3pts, now for Dundalk on Monday night.

I thought you would beat Rovers. Derry are a serious side, Rovers are weak in too many areas.

    You coming up for it?

If so, bring up a few euro for the electricity meter.

We were really rubbish against Cabo, desperate night.

Nice to see Bohs up and running. Sounds like a cracking game.

Big wins for Bohs & Derry.

Should be a great game monday Derry vs Dundalk hopefully the lights work.. I think Derry can challenge this year. Very good squad.

Very little between the sides nothing for either keeper, ball drops to McBride from a corner and he can't miss. For a serious side, they were very poor. Rovers need a striker.

If Derry play like that against Dundalk, they'll be rolled over easily enough.

The same could be said if we play like we did against Limerick.

Dundalk were very poor and but for Limerick being a bit clueless in final third could have lost that game. Plenty of football in that Limerick side and will be a decent shout for Europe.

Cork looking like a serious side this year, should be winning the league.

We are struggling for cover at the back, and although we have been getting the points, we haven't been playing well.

The 4-1 game v bohs was never a 4-1 game, we were poor enough v limerick before the lights went out. And reports from last night say the same.

Monday night will show if we are a good side or not.

Nice to see Bohs up and running. Sounds like a cracking game.

2 crap goals to give away but heads didn't drop; dinny with 2 nice finishes.

Was a great game in fairness, we well deserved the win though.

I'd have them as favourites at the minute. If it doesn't take Dundalk long to click and get a settled first XI, I think then we have a chance of retaining. A lot of unknown quantities with Dundalk though and Cork are a settled side with a fantastic striker in Maguire.

It's going to be a very interesting league this year. Limerick and Derry look decent then you teams like Rovers and Bray that could nick points off the big clubs

Definitely wouldn't say we're a settled team yet, midfielder playing at right back due to injuries and slight question marks over centre backs. Lot more competition in midfield though which is good, has already pushed on Gearoid in the early games who has been fantastic.

Yeah, we haven't really been tested yet. Dundalk, Rovers and Derry will be the real tests. We did well in the big games last year, but it was dropping points against the weaker teams that screwed us. We just need to be consistent and we'll have a fighting chance.

It's very hard to say which of Dundalk and Cork are favourites.

Dundalk have the look of a side who are starting out, not one who are looking for a fourth title in a row. This has probably been exaggerated due to the number of injuries carried forward from last season.

Cork have settled look in midfield and up front. It will be interesting to see how the back four responds to difficult games.

Both sides look like they are the serious contenders in the title race. Shamrock Rovers are looking like all mouth and no bollocks.

Very worried about our back 4, really should have been 2-2 going in at half time against Drogheda on Friday only for an awful miss on the half volley from Drogs player. We didnt deal with the high ball at all and as we havnt really been tested yet, Im very nervous about the upcoming games against Rovers, Dundalk and Derry. Saying that we look as strong going forward now as we have in the last three years so to quote Michael Owen, if we score more than we concede we'll win the game.

On tonight, Sligo are definitely a bit of a bogey team for us, we only got 2 points from 9 off them last season but I think we should be good enough to get a good win under the belt. Derry and Dundalk to play out a draw and its Champions Elect for Cork City.

Dundalk will take time to gel. I think they will peak later in the season. As long as they stay within 3-5 points of Cork within the last 10 games I think they would still win the league.

Whoever goes further in Europe could be a factor especially in one of Cork or Dundalk make the EL group stages.

Goalkeeper still a big problem for Dundalk. Sava with another couple of bloopers the other night. Thankfully they didn't cost us this time but it must be nerve-wracking for the defence playing in front of him. Hopefully Rogers comes back and recaptures his best form.

Bit more confident in Bohs after the comeback against Bray, gives me a bit more hope that we can go to Limerick and get a result, if we want to avoid a relegation dog fight then we need to be robbing points in the likes of the Market fields, Showgrounds, ballybofey etc cos we defo won't get them in Oriel or Turners.

Not at the match myself tonight but got a message that he was very poor for Derry's equaliser

Starting to think we will do better away from home this year between our team and horrendous pitch... Big win for us... But still shakey at the back by all accounts... Riding our luck to be on 4pts

Great win for Bohs, early days but 5 points infront of the bottom 3 going into a home game against Galway on Friday, decent start!!

    Great win for Bohs

Supple is easily the best keeper in the LOI.

Amazing result for Derry. If we don't get rid of our bluffer I might have to make a few trips to Buncrana to see some proper football this season.

WTF is going on in Pats?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Delighted with that, 9 points after 4 games is sweet. Hopefully get another win Vs Sligo on Saturday now, it'd be a great start.

Looks like it'll be a great battle at the top too!

WTF is going on in Pats?

They're awful and it says a lot that we couldn't beat them. They were going through the motions on Friday and didn't seem arsed at all.

Think they need to freshen things up to motivate the team.

WTF is going on in Pats?

Murphy was decent in goal tonight, not much he could do about the two goals.
Barker, not the first cousin of a full-back. Time for Ger O'Brien to put his coaching aspirations aside and get his bleedin boots back on.
Peers wasn't great at distributing the ball, too many blind passes not looking beforehand.
Desmond in defence, well, we all know what his game is like. Better off in midfield.
Bermo, this years captain, looks jaded and isn't captain material in my opinion.
Cregg, in fairness to him, was the only one getting in positions to pick up the ball from the keeper/defence.
JJ Lunny, loads of energy but unlike Cregg, he wasn't quick enough to get into position to receive.
Kelly was the same, but took his goal well. Kurtis Byrne came on for him, and provided very little support for Cregg when he was on the ball. His freekick towards the end was just lacking in pace.
Conan Byrne worked his socks off, but as usual, just not good enough and gets very lucky with crap defending.
Billy Dennehy is too slow. Good at moving into space to receive but lacks the urgency to deliver.
Josh O'Halloran was like a Sunday league striker tonight. Christy Fagan came on for him, was pretty much the same.

Not sure if Bucko is to blame, but there's big issues with players not pulling their weight. Lots of arguing on the pitch with Murphy and the back four.

    Fantastic night in Buncrana.

Perfect conditions, sell out, champions in town.

Go one down, fear a hiding as Dundalk looked comfortable. But the equaliser before half-time gave us hope.

Then a great second half, played with so much heart and passion. Dundalk disappointed but considering I would have taken a point at kick-off, I'm delighted with 3.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

Nice 3 points for City tonight against an absolutely awful Sligo side. But boy was hard work made of it.

Bolger was very poor tonight. And Ryan Delaney needs a proper centre back next to him as he doesn't seem to be too confident.

On the plus side Beattie was excellent again and Mcguire got his goal again. 2 tasty finishes too.

Big run of fixtures on the way. Shamrock away Friday followed by Dundalk at home. Play like we did tonight we get nothing. But I'm sure the players know that themselves.

Great win for Bohs, especially good to get a clean sheet considering our previous defensive performances. Bit more optimistic about things now!

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Great win for Rovers taking some pressure for points off the Cork game on Friday. 11 years now since Galway beat Rovers last.

That's a desperate result for Pats. One point from Drogheda, Bray, Sligo and Harps so far...

We were poor against Rovers lastnight, manager doesn't know his best eleven or his best formation as of yet. Rovers were absolutely bang average too, there for the taking when we equalised but we decided that sitting off with a gale behind you was a good thing to do!!!!

You bought him, you keep him..... His use of substitutes (too little, too late) will cost you dearly, as it did Wexford Youths
