Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,

I'm sick of going through cheap(ish) shoes which have short lives e.g. 6-9 months so I'm looking for help to invest a really good quality pair to be worn daily which can be repaired (soled and heeled) and last me for years. I need them to be smart but also comfortable and capable of being worn with jeans and chino's etc.

I like to wear classic tan slip on leather shoes like the pair below.

I also like the look of these but in a slip on version:-

I've traipsed through all the shoe shops in Dundrum without success.

Any suggestion as to where I can get something like these? My budget is max €250 or so.

Why is this in long term illness?

Shoes won't last years if you wear them every day. Even if you get them regularly reheeled and soled. Just not going to happen. Sorry. They'll end up looking scruffy or they'll lose their cushioning. Or both.

What you want is called wanting to have your cake and eat it too.

My bad, I thought I was in the "Fashion" forum. Apologies and particularly to anyone who may have thought I was somehow being insensitive, I wasn't.

MODS: Please move or delete and I'll re-post in Fashion.

I'm not so sure. I have a pair of Loake brogues for almost 10 years. I don't wear them every day now but for the first few years I did. They've been soled and heeled about 5 or 6 times, still look very smart and still wear comfortably.

I'd be happy to get 2-3 years (maybe soled and heeled twice) from the tan slip on's I'm currently looking for.

Look at Timberland shoes. My husband got a similar pair for about €150 and they are really hard wearing.

Think I'll head to Kildare Village one of the days as they have a Churches outlet store and Timberland there plus there's bound to be some other shops selling good quality shoes at discount prices.
