Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

yay! Can I make it two in a row :p

Liverpool have yet to lose to a Top 10 club and have only dropped points 4 times I think, alas Burnley know this which is why they've cunningly placed themselves 12th and therefore are in with a very good chance at 13/1 of winning at Anfield in the league for the first time since 02/11/62 despite winning just 2 points away from Turfmore all season.

The injury roll call - Sturridge, Henderson, with Lovren and Firmino a doubt. No harm if Fun Bobby is missing, City is his sort of game not this lot and Origi might well prove more effective using his pace and hold up play. That said the first thing that needs to happen is for the away side to leave their own defensive third or he'll have no space in which to run the channels.

    Mig
    Clyne--Matip--Klavan--Milner
    Can
    Wijnaldum
    Lallana
    Mane
    Origi
    Coutinho

Burnley are missing Guðmundsson and Defour, plus Marney, Long (dunno who they are)

Patience is probably the key and not doing anything stupid.

Burnley have plenty of reason for optimism here.

Cast your minds back to the reverse fixture and we got truly mugged. Came as a shock at the time but later it proved to be the rule rather than the exception as we went on to make a shocking habit of tripping up in games against sides like Burnley.
"Sides like Burnley" not intended as an insult, just an observation.

So as the clock ticks down towards end of season and the race for top-4 we have only Man City and Everton left to play where you would call them big opponents on paper and the rest are "sides like Burnley".

Most clubs would love that run-in but we should probably fear it.
If we manage to get the job done tomorrow then it will come as more of a surprise than beating Spurs or Arsenal imo.
That's how nonsensical our season has been.

I'd say Burnley are looking forward to it.

I think we will win by 4 . People forget that every side that has come to Anfield has tried to lock us out, few have succeeded
    4 past Leicester
    5 past Hull
    2 past West brom
    6 past Watford
    2 past Sunderland
    4 Past Stoke

    All games won

United and West Ham held us to a draw.

Of course Swansea beat us recently.

Hopefully a comfortable win. Need it against 'lesser' teams. 3-0 to Liverpool.
    Yes , a clean sheet !!

I'm tempted to put a few quid on Burnley. I probably won't though.

Awful early (or late depending on your pov) kick off in this. :)

    2-0 or 2-1 to Pool

    Team as I predicted
Mignolet; Clyne, Matip, Klavan, Milner; Can; Mané, Lallana, Wijnaldum, Coutinho; Origi

with subs as Karius, Moreno, Lucas, Wilson, Gomez, Alexander-Arnold, Woodburn. Great to see Wilson on the bench, he's been in imperious form for the U23s this season.

    Firmino out.

Good to see Wilson on the bench he has outperformed Ojo in the u23s scoring alot of goals.

A hard nosed draw for burnley and Joey Barts to get sent off.

    Where's Fun Bobby today?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,546 ✭✭✭✭murpho999

    Like the lineup.

I expect Liverpool to win comfortably as everyone is going on about how Liverpool are poor against the lesser teams.

Also, Burnley's away form is awful.

Missing Henderson & firmino we are if course not full strength. Lovren & Klavan probably much of muchness.

Still, should be an easy 'Pool win.

Karius not getting a look in anymore .

That's a shocking bench for Liverpool. The squad depth is seriously being tested that's for sure!

I was just thinking that myself.

Its reported that Klopp has 150 million to spend during the summer and he will need every penny of it.

With a lot of that from the Sales I'd imagine. If you there is European football also next season he'll need more cash I'd imagine.

The bench not looking great isn't any sort of a surprise considering we're missing 3 first team players and another few bench players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,787 ✭✭✭✭Charlie19

The squad has lacked depth all season.

Trent Alexander Arnold, Woodburn and Gonez are all great prospects but to be relying on them now isn't great.

Burnley to have a man sent off at 17/2 looks like value with Joey Barton on the pitch

They have a great discipline record as does Barton while at Burnley. Apart from that nonsense he pulled the other week in the cup.

Burnley taking down long balls on the chest on the edge of our box, not a good sign.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,932 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

Looks like Gray is going to be exactly what Vardy was to our defence, no confidence in Klavan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,546 ✭✭✭✭murpho999

Burnley seeing left channel as a weakness to exploit.

Fcuking pathetic. Worst part is they deserved it.

    Here we go again

Who's surprised at this stage? It's par for the course. Chances are they'll get another one within 10 minutes.

Now they'll just sit back and wait for us to screw up.

Well it's nice to know in a mad world that some things remain true

Why do we start games switched off mentally? That's been the biggest issue, we always seem to give up big chances in the first 10 minutes of games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,932 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

So it's going to be one of those "keep giving it to Mane and hope he does something" games, while we get continuously counter-attacked.

Think I'd be more confident playing a combined Chelsea/Man City selection than bloody Burnley.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

Does Klopp look at games after they end?
As it's the same stuff over & over again that works against us.

Boyd aiming for the wheelchair section there, the nasty bugger.

And it's typical Liverpool again after hammering Arsenal last week in response to being hammered by Leicester. Turn up here today and make Burnely, a team who haven't won away from home in the league all season, look like Barcelona.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,105 ✭✭✭mada999

Origi so lazy there... doesnt have the hunger....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Great movement from Origi there to almost get on the end of that, Borini-esque.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,932 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

As always Can is the worst possible player for games like this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,136 ✭✭✭✭Rayne Wooney

Handing out the best defenders in the league award to Matip and Clyne in October seems to have backfired

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,404 ✭✭✭✭Vicxas

Jesus even Lallanas touch is piss poor

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,008 ✭✭✭not yet

I don't give a fcuk half that team should be shipped out in the summer.
