In fairness Hazard is a disgrace throwing himself to the ground at every opportunity and refs keep falling for it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Pogba is playing decent enough for United. Hazard the best player on the pitch so far though.

He's a dirty player Herrera. If he wasn't a footballer he'd be stealing hub caps for a living

Chelsea have been the better team by far. They should be two or three up by now.

It's still a yellow if you pull down someone

Herrera clearly slipped against Burnley earlier I n the season still go a yellow.

PSG players clearly slipped and Neymar ran into him. Still got a yellow and a peno

Does this go to extra time or replay if it ends as a draw?

  • Nerdlingr wrote: »
Totally deserved the two yellows. Shoulders and obstructs hazard for the first. And stupidly brings him down, nowhere near the ball for the second. This after the ref has just warned Jones for persistent fouling. Oliver was very lenient after he got surrounded by united players as well. Could easily have dished out a couple more yellows there. Jones screaming his head off at him after being let off the hook two seconds earlier. Dopey or what.

That not how a ref should accumulate fouls. It's against the individual player

It was Jones with the warning

At most it was a standard free kick for Chelsea

The amount of shouting he did at the ref for the first booking he was lucky not to sent of then. Does it ever help, take the card right or wrong and move on. He reminds me of Bellamy

Hazard the best player on the pitch being kicked off it and people say he's diving. Ha ha. Good one.

You looking at the same Pogba he's done nothing in the whole half, seriously what sort of midfielder is he? Defensive? Attacking? Box to box he seems to just jog around throwing shapes

If and its a big IF so far Utd lose, hes going to fall back on that red card.

He has nobody but himself to blame, well, he can blame Herrera, the tactic was to chop down Hazard and stop him playing it worked but you cant have the same player do it for 90 mins it has to be a team effort.

Herrera was naive to think he could get away with fouling him.

Conte will have to watch out for a sneaky eye gouging.

Better watch out for the dreaded 'finger poke of doom'

Don't think anyone has said he's dived at all. More so that he's willing to go down easily

He should have gotten a second yellow for screaming at the ref after being booked the first time.

Extra time and penalties tonight, no more replays at this stage of the competition.

Hoping it goes to penos myself, a few more red cards would be nice too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,017 ✭✭✭sReq | uTeK

Oliver is a hot head if he took 5 seconds he'd realise Herrera has already been booked and whilst it against the same player consistently fouled it's his 2nd foul and an innocent one. It should be based on the player fouling not on the player being fouled

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,292 ✭✭✭GreNoLi

    Carp game.

But sure if that's the case every game would end 4v3

One team playing football, the other far too preoccupied by kicking the opposition.

It's strange in a way to see the roles of the two clubs like this. For the last 10 years it was generally Chelsea that were the more physical team and Man Utd the more technical but that's flipped completely now. Again it can't be stressed enough just how brilliantly Conte has done in his first season to get his team playing the slick, intricate and progressive stuff that they have for most of the season. Top coach.

United have been clocking up the fouls all night. Herrera been booked already for taking hazard out of it. Ref warns Herreras team.mate and the captain! about persistent fouling. And what happens 2 seconds later? hazard fouled again. It could have been anyone to do it but Herrera was stupid enough.

I would class Cahill and Alonso as weak links in the Chelsea side. Moses is fine.

Love Lampard, a fantastic pundit with great insight and it's clear he still holds Jose in high esteem

that obstruction rule is an interesting one. you can block a player with your body to shepard the ball out of play, but cant do the same in field. sometimes the player that runs into a player standing their ground is booked, sometimes the player standing their ground is booked.

does anyone know the actual rule?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,406 ✭✭✭Korat

"he knows what he's doing there" is not a foul described in the rules of any sport.

Herrara stopped his run and stood his ground in Hazard's path for the first yellow. That is not foul play. Hazard running into him might be accidental but is a foul. The ref got that one wrong.

What exactly is your point here? I am sure he knows his brother is a better player and pundit and I am pretty sure United JUST LIKE CHELSEA players try to gain such an advantage if an opportunity emerges. Costa, Luiz, Hazard, Moses, all guilty of feigning injury

You have to be considered to be "playing the ball," which generally is the case when shielding it out of play.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Bridge93

What exactly is your point here?

It's pretty obvious what my point is. A pundit calling for players to go out and get other pros sent off is horrible. You agree with him?

He only has himself to blame, could have gotten a 2nd card when he was mouthing off at the ref when he got his first booking Imo, stupid player who has fecked over his entire team, manager and fans,

Again that's not how the rule works
Was never a yellow for multiple reasons but if the ref has done it for persistent fouling then he can't send Herrera off. If Jones had have fouled him it would have been yellow for Jones

I agree with you but it was right after warning the players. It was really unlucky in fairness to him but the ref had to make a stand or else what is the point of all the warnings.

One team with a lot of rest, the other not long back from Russia, and who have another game in 3 days.

It is not like they play the same schedule of games.
