There are 2 Irish Riders in it. Best of luck to them.

I follow the Cycling Maven on YouTube and he's doing it, he'll be vlogging throughout so should be pretty interesting.

Follow him myself and to be honest I can't see him finishing it. I'd be more interested to see his mate Ryan vlogging it.

Also I see he posted a pic of $14/litre for water on the Nullabour

I more or less drove the route a good few years ago. It was a long way and I'd have zero interest in doing it on a bike to be honest. I'm amazed no ones has ever been killed in this race those road trains take no prisoners.

Donncha Cuttriss is Instagramming pretty well from his preparation.

Agreed. Based on his strava account, I just don't think he's got the miles put in to even get halfway though I hope he proves us wrong. I can see Durian Rider finishing it but I just won't be able to bring myself to view his clickbait vlog to check his progress.

I think he'll tough it out for the best part it will either be lack of water on the nullabour that'll get him or passing through Melbourne.

Even the hardiest soul would struggle passing their home after several thousand kms knowing that the next thousand or so are through the mountains.

It's one almighty race. Does anyone know the average completion time? It must be a month or so and that'd be doing big kms/day

Great to see long distance cycling taking off, in its various forms

RHINO is pretty good with the Instagram Stories.

The Big Dog is Jesse Carlsson, he might be doing some Instagram Stories too.

Abdulla from The Glucose Network will be making a documentary and uploading to The Maven's Channel.

    They're talking about 400kms a day, that's 13 days.

    I see they're off now.

No sign of a GPS marker for one of the Irish riders and Durian Rider. I know he was involved in that RTC last week but I didnt think he'd be a no show.

There looks to be a good few GPS markers missing

Both Irish riders are there. Eoin has done 45 km and Cuttriss a bit over 60. Cycling maven seems i have stopped at 20 km.

Maybe durianrider realised he's a bit of a t!t once and for all and decided not to try

Ah the GPS trackers are all over the shop at the start they still don't seem to be working 100%. Cuttriss and a whole bundle of others weren't evening showing a GPS signal.

Apparently Durian Rider is up the front but GPS showing him down the back. Not a great advertisement for whoever looks after the GPS

His spot tracker looks wrecked from the times.
Maven reckons Durianrider is with Rhino (Ryan Flinn).
    Name: Durianrider

The race director of that is in this Australian one. I think Donncha Cuttriss has done it too.

Sounds mad: 11 hours in the saddle every day.

Has the Belgian lad out the front stopped yet his arse must be bleedin shattered he's been averaging about 30km/h for the best part of 20 hours.

That's all they've had over there the last 2 days ;)

Jesse Carlson and durian Rider have pulled out.

Ryan Flynn (Rhino) is complaining about his knee so he won't be hanging on forUchida longer I'd say.

Cycling Maven seems in good form other than a bit of sunwind burn

Donnacha Cutriss could do well he's certainly pushing it up the front end.

Fair play to them all the clips I've seen the weather looks rough.

Rhino is riding with one leg unclipped for some passages.
A polish girl has blown out a knee and she pulled out 6 hours ago.
Maven is still in there, but he is starting to complain of knee and little toe issues.

Eoin and Donncha are doing really well.

Durianrider is now making videos from the Van.
Abdullah from The Glucose Network is Vlogging from his Jeep, which looks like a tough month for him, making his documentary.

Durianrider is now making videos from the Van.

YouTube comments are usually a horrid place and those under his latest videos are no different but I guess that what happens when you constantly post clickbait. He's getting called out for not following through on his own HTFU mantra.

Glad to see Cycling Maven still going. His mental toughness is showing through.

Donncha/Eoin seem to be moving along well too which is great.

A quick clip of Donncha Cuttriss, who is a "great laugh" apparently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAYUbdoT7GQ
Maven and Durianrider in there too.

Donncha currently 7th overall, 300km behind Kristof.
Eoin is still 200km from the border.
Rhino and Maven are still trucking, they're 200km behind Eoin.

seen on instagram, Sarah Hammond is using 20 spoons of coffee & 20 spoons of sugar dissolved in a small amount of water! I must give that a go at the weekend

Donnacha Cuttriss is going well. This is beyond epic.
Just watched Maven's last post, and I began to feel sore and dehydrated just looking at them. They've had a headwind for days.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,694 ✭✭✭thesimpsons

The Facebook page is saying Donnacha has retired from the race. Sad to see that. Real gentleman and sportsman.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 20,490 Mod ✭✭✭✭Weepsie

Ah that's a shame, but 2000 km in 5 days is savage.

  • Registered Users Posts: 471 ✭✭dermabrasion

Just saw a line though his name. Thats a bummer for him.
