I have. I don't see the bigest loudmouths being part of the club.. Isn't there tag that typically says under the user name, that the user is a subscriber? certainly don't see one under yours or Oscar Bravo.. shout much?

No, when you become a subscriber you have an option to change the tag-line to whatever you want

I've been one in the past, but currently I don't want to support the service.

Also, they earn revenue from advertisement, which if the site didn't have any users it wouldn't earn, so we can also put that point to bed.

yadayada... do you have any idea how much amazon cloud services cost to support this thing? When people stop paying for the services, they typically get cut off.. yet here you are enjoying the free service and lecturing me about the economies of running a site..

So, have you ever subscribed to this site?

Seems like you're lecturing yourself more than anything :)

Ah lads, please. We were doing so well this evening...

So, have you ever subscribed to this site?

do you see me complaining about the service? I'm absolutely happy with the free service I'm getting.. it's the consumers that demand all for nothing is that I don't fully support.. guys, don't get me wrong, but if your stupid attitude gets one of the truly experienced and knowledgeable guys on the forum to leave, just because you had to be right and your consumerism protected, it will really upset me more than you can think of. I have stated on this from time to time again - I look up to people like Irish Steve, Smurfjed, eatmyshorts, and in a sense Locker10a (there were a few more, but good people keep leaving), because these people have wealth of knowledge that they are willing to share and educate people like me for nothing.. Do you have any idea how much flight training costs and how beneficial it is to have these people around just to ask a question or two for a young aviator?

on the other hand, we have people like Oscar Bravo, JCX BXC, billie1b (with all his 15 years of experience in aviation) who, in my humble eyes, have contributed nothing.. you see where I'm going with this? Senor Fancy Pants,I have no idea who you are, I think this is the first time I have seen your nickname... apologies, but you are nobody to me. I can trully echo what has been said already, if you're not happy - leave! I will not miss you! But don't you flippin dear bully those that do contribute and do educate for nothing!

on a side note, I hope that eatmyshorts will be back in full swing and maybe someday we will meet in an airport bar and have a laugh about it. But that holiday he got was deserved no matter what way you look at it

Lots of people have become inactive martinsvi, and I don't think you can blame it on anything other than the site itself making it's own determent.

All you're doing now is insulting people who disagree with you and just ranting aimlessly, and not only in this thread. Tensions have mostly calmed here so hopefully now we can have a cooperative, meaningful discussion between Mods/CMods/Admins and users which will achieve a middle ground between the two. I do enjoy boards.ie, but I, as many others, am posting less and less in this particular forum. I'll hold my hands up and say I've engaged in poor conduct on here before, I'm not acting goody two shoes here, but it is a team effort here to achieve a good healthy discussion forum. Not a put up or shut up forum.

I can't figure people out at all!
Here you all are bickering over moderation levels, whether someone subscribes or not and a raft of other non issues.
All the while , there are spouses, children, parents, family and friends grieving over the tragic loss of loved ones and looking for the day they get word that their bodies have been recovered.
Instead there are those here who just want the latest snippet of "news" so they can have a good chat about it.

Mods - in my mind people have shown that they can't behave themselves and behave like human beings. These threads should just be shut down.

For the record, I've no connection with what happened to R116. I just have young kids the same age as those whose parents died and know the impact this tragedy has had on me.

Should we just stop all discussion on the entirety of Boards.ie in that case?

The "grieving people" argument just shuts down discussion completely, especially when used selectively. The crash of R116 was an awful tragedy, yes. There are many other incidents that are awful, yes.

Should we stop our discussions? No.

unless you've been operating under different aliases in the past for god knows what kind of reasons, all im seeing is that I've been longer here than you and I've made 1/10th of the comments you have. The very event's that led to knowledgeable posters leaving were some morons going on with their trolling and reckless speculations and fantasies.. now that we have somewhat tighter modding in place, some snowflakes come up with their feelings hurt. I don't sympathize with whatever you're saying, I don't mean to insult you, I'm sorry if I have.. I don't know you personally and chances are you're a great person.. but I could really not care less if you would get your "fire brigade" and go where you're needed.. not here.. don't mean that as an insult.. just could not care if you post less.. or at all

Well frankly my point was not in regards to whether you want me to post less or care whether I do so, it was a general point. There's no doubt the forum isn't as active currently.

    I prefer quality over quantity.

Look, lads, I'm sorry if I have insulted anyone, I didn't really mean to. Got to go to work tomorrow, so have to log out now and hopefully put this whole discussion behind me. All I wanted to offer was some balance to the very aggressive criticism that I mainly saw from Oscar Bravo. (S)he got to go on on an uninterrupted rampage of how (s)he wants Irish Steve gone. You are very right in saying that this is not about me expressing my preferences on who gets to post or not. But! This is about balance. Even if you think Irish Steve was wrong, would you just not accept that people make mistakes? Why are you all taking this so seriously, ready to rip the poor guy apart just to feel better about yourselves.. why do you think its so vital that your view gets out and is heard?
