I will not have a bad word said against Jay Rayner. I love him!
    You can have him! :D

Critics differing in opinion from J&G a lot tonight!

Rose scented chicken still freaking me out slightly!

Rose chicken triumph? Saliha sails through!

    I liked his mother but he's a bit of a grump. :)

    Oh Alison......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,263 ✭✭✭robyntmorton

Ribs cooked too quickly. Again don't mess the star of the show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,263 ✭✭✭robyntmorton

The gratin was wrong, and the wellington was under. Brodie goes home.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,263 ✭✭✭robyntmorton

    I'd destroy that dessert...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,040 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

    Good girl Giovanna!

Think Alison might have dodged a bullet there. Hopefully.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 587 ✭✭✭twill

Could be Brodie, one mistake too many.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,263 ✭✭✭robyntmorton

    Right decision made.

Well. Not much surprise there then.

    Roll on next week!

So, pick your player for to win.

I'm still saying Lorna. They've been building up the story of her nicely, and that meltdown and recovery on her fish taco is the kind of thing that fits so well for a winner.

Hmmm, I think Saliha maybe, just on the basis of her flavours. I can't help thinking of her as a bit of a one-trick pony in that all her dishes seem to be Indian-based - but I don't think she's had a dud yet, and I think has covered all bases so who knows!

But then Steve and Giovanna are both really solid, Alison is prone to bouts of absolute brilliance, and Lorna definitely can't be discounted.

    I dunno!!!

I was worried for Steve but really Brodie has been on the line for the last few days, so pleased to see him go.
Either Alison or Steve to win for me, but they are all so close that one bad round and they could be gone. Especially Alison, she can get it wrong often...
Think Saliha's dishes look amazing but should she be cooking more varied menu items rather than sticking with Indian every time?

Robin Gill from Irish MC (of whom I'd never heard before he was on the series!) being interviewed on The Business RTE1 now..... interesting guy!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,765 ✭✭✭4Ad

Alison was lucky to get through only for the very likeable Brodie had a bad day...
I think Saliha's food is amazing but I love Indian food..
    Looking forward to next week..

Christ, and I thought our US ambassador had a fine pad

Down to 5 now.... nowhere to hide at this stage!!!

Slighly ropey looking pastry case there!

I know it's hidden under a mountain of stuff, but still!

Awwww, chef seems like he's lovely! Wonder how long that'll last?

I wish they'd show more of the cooking and not just the putting-together of the dishes.

Some of the menu turns my stomach a little, to be honest, especially the pumpkin pie and bacon business.

Can't say that doughnut cake confection does a whole lot for me either!

Even the trifle manages to look a bit eeuww - and I LOVE trifle!

Did Rachel Johnson turn up for dinner in her tracksuit?

Paul Ainsworth appears to be a very nice guy,not usually a quality in michelin star chefs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,040 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

I don't even like seafood, but Steve's dish looked AMAZING.

There seems to be a timer permanently going off in that kitchen!

What's with a caesar salad on a waffle - wtf?

Gawd, how do they come up with ideas for things like "inspired by someone you admire"?

I'd lie down and surrender right there!

Saliha's story is a bit..... tenuous!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,040 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Oh God... Alison saying her duck "definitely can't be under"

    Is THAT an omen???

Ohhhhhh..... that lamb gravy that Steve just poured over.....

    I WANT!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,040 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Their instructions at the start were to "let your imaginations run wild" (or words to that effect) - yet now they're cribbing about the wild and wonderful presentation of otherwise seemingly perfectly cooked dishes?

    Hmmmmm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,040 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

    Alison through :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,279 ✭✭✭TheRiverman

Really hate that Matt lipstick- very unattractive imo. I know this is a cooking programme and I wouldn't comment on Steve's hair etc but it's distracting:)

Is Lorna about seven foot tall?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 587 ✭✭✭twill

    Aww, Lorna. :(

when the yank said "i'm gong to use the word... yummy"... and they all laughed - what was that about? what was sooooo funny about saying "yummy"? humour was lost on me.

yeah Lorna was the weakest there...

I still don't appreciate Alison.. can't warm to her and I don't like the style of her food - not saying she hasn't skill - I just don't get her... but granted she did well with that pastry - it was melting as she was rolling it... I hope the taste of it was worth the effort.. i think she might win - the judges seem to love her.

I lovvvvved Steve's creation... I mean - thats culinary art - he created a dish that represented a movie... ok - a scary movie but I thought it was class..
And he was class in the 1st half - his bisque was "fantastic" apparently..
    I'd love him to win...

    Giovanni's presentation was so poor..

    Saliha - well it wasn't a curry ..

PS What team was Alison on in the Holby City challenge? winners or loosers? can't rem

That would be regarded as top, top, top notch bantz in the diplomatic community.

Shows that he puts his trousers on one leg at a time like the rest of us and is not some stuffy politician.

Just saying that diplomats and politicians are probably not the most hilarious people around, at least not at formal occasions. Him saying 'yummy' would get polite fake laughing at almost any event, so would be considered "banter" or bantz. Shows he is an everyman, a man of the people.

Bill Burr he most certainly ain't.
