The tacos look messy not really fine dining.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,263 ✭✭✭robyntmorton

    Ahhhhh rookie error!

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,372 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Is that Steve's first slip-up of the competition?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,263 ✭✭✭robyntmorton

Steve pushed the prawns to one side to do his purée artwork in the middle?!?!

The pressure is getting to a few of them tonight.

Brodie with nearly a fish kebab there.

Giovanna in line for a meltdown.

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,372 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

How have so many of them miscalculated quantities that badly?

Brodie's dish is a lot more bun than fish!

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,263 ✭✭✭robyntmorton

Brodie and Giovanna both cooking for survival.

    Let's not mention Allison's gnocchi.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,263 ✭✭✭robyntmorton

Another meltdown in the making there for Jamie!

    Alison's presentation always looks good.

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,372 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Never mind them, I feel like I'm going to have a meltdown if this carries on much longer

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,263 ✭✭✭robyntmorton

Saliha straight through, and I think Lorna, but Allison will run it close.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,598 ✭✭✭Meauldsegosha

Do the diners get to taste each dish? If not, how could they choose a favourite.

    Good question!

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,263 ✭✭✭robyntmorton

I'm slightly surprised there. I would have had that curry many times over.

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,372 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

    I thought Saliha would be a shoo-in!

    Oooh, veggie challenge.... devious!

    Saliha should do well again.......

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,598 ✭✭✭Meauldsegosha

Sallya has cooked a few vegetable curries during the series so this should suit her.

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,372 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Does it matter what Jamie's dish is called, John? If it tastes good....

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,372 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

That's a lot of dishes Saliha is planning on cooking in 1 hour 15.....

How do you make icecream (never mind all the rest) in 75 minutes???

Gwan Steve - all the others took the easy route with desserts! Well, bar Saliha.

    I'm rooting for the savouries!

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,263 ✭✭✭robyntmorton

Bit dodgy by Steve, but not bad.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,263 ✭✭✭robyntmorton

    They're being vicious tonight!

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,263 ✭✭✭robyntmorton

    Jamie goes.

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,372 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

    Jamie goes.
    Well called!

It was essentially shortbread and strawberry. It was too simple and not executed as it needed to be.

no he made a slip up with his risotto too one of the days this week..
his prawn cocktail was poor though = serious lack of texture combinations.. and should not have called it a prawn cocktail

i was wondering about this too - i am sure that they have some format for working it out..
    Jamie goes.

Yeah I feel that Jamie reached a natural end here - he had run out of steam - in every way.. nerve, skill.. he has talent - but it ends here (in this competition)

Brodie hanging on by a thread IMO

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,886 ✭✭✭sporina

upon reflection here are my thoughts to date on the comp..

i think Alison might win - she seems to have the best knowledge and skill with all meat/fish..

has she done a desert though? not that i think it realllly matters.. (if they are gonna do deserts they need to be fab - but i feel some do them cos they have nothing else up their sleeves and they are often crap ie Jamies mess yday - I could have knocked that up)

    but steve is showing weaknesses..

giovanni is stressing and ok when it comes to italian food but falls at more challenging tasks..

lorna never filleted a fish before?? lack of skill..

Saliha imo needs to show more than indian veggie cuisine..

brodie - well i'd say he is reaching saturation point now..

So..... who do we reckon is for the chop tonight???

My guess would be Brodie - he's been shaky the last few rounds, and the others are far more sure of themselves when cooking their own food.
