Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Possible lineups.

    5207155401555968.png

    5639637871624192.png

    Stats

    1. 18 – Manchester United could extend their current unbeaten run, their longest in the Premier League, to 18 games with a positive result against Middlesbrough.

    2. 19 – Middlesbrough are the most miser team in front of goal by a distance with 19 goals scored in the Premier League so far this campaign, 7 fewer than second lowest Hull City.

    3. 10 – Middlesbrough are winless in their last 10 Premier League fixtures.

    4. Goal drought – Boro have not scored a single goal in their last four league games.

    5. 1000 – Middlesbrough’s next defeat will be their 1000th defeat in the Premier League and Boro would be the 14th team to achieve the unsavoury milestone.

I see United and Middlesbrough share the most number of draws in the Premier League this season- 10

Maybe there won't be too much excitement.

I'd have that same team apart from Jones who I'd replace with Smalling and Darmian who I'd replace with Shaw.

My blind pre match optimism says a Utd win.

On a positive note we can't finish today in 6th.we either draw and stay 7th on Gd, win and go 5th or lose and clearly stay 7th.

The longest run in one position has to go this weekend. Thanks Everton.

Smalling is a very average player, Jones is much better when fit.

Hmm. 5 at the back again? I don't like it one bit bit I'd take any sort of scrappy win here today and just move on till we get the other lads back.

Last game for a fortnight too.

That's the most uninspiring PL United line up I've seen in a long while. Scrappy 1-0 win hopefully. Not confident though.

    De Gea
    Bailly - Smalling - Jones
    Valencia - Carrick - Fellaini - Young
    Mata - Rashford - Lingard

On what basis can either Jones or Smalling be in ahead of Rojo? Doesn't make any sense.

And why not Micky or Martial? I mean Lingard? and Young? Young offers nothing going forward and surely Jose cannot be worried about Middles attacking threat that we need a back 5?

Jose can go on about fixture congestion as much as he wants but this team makes no sense.

Get your best team on, score a few goals and sit back and rest them.

Lack of trust shown to the midfield with extra protection needed

This kind of team reminds me of the Arsenal game where we won 8-2 but I will be happy if we score...

Mourinho said Rojo couldn't run on Thursday towards the end of the game. That's why Jones a right footer played Lwb when he came on.
Probably why he's only in bench.

No pace at all on the middle three so that's why young is playing.

I've no problem with the personnel at all. Just don't like the formation.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,019 ✭✭✭✭adox

I know we are missing some important players but it's quite a negative selection from Jose considering how important the game potentially is.

Maybe he's given up on a top 4 place?

Well obviously I don't think so and you stating it isn't going to change my mind.

Big game, wouldn't give united too much of an edge, 1-2.

Let's hope for the new manager bounce. You would think utd will do enough to win. 2-1 maybe.

The fact we dropped to 7th gives me a bit more confidence. Not a lot but a bit.

That's why Rashford struggles to get starts. What a chance.

    Surely a foul on Bailly

How many chances does Rashford want? Same against Chelsea.

    Dave saves.

He's some man for making the simplest of saves look complicated sometimes.

    Is Jones playing left back?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,048 ✭✭✭Unearthly

    Not pressing them at all

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,369 ✭✭✭Rossi IRL

We are basically playing 5 at the back.

    Jones is left centre back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,843 ✭✭✭GSPfan

Its a 4231 lads. Bailly is right back Smalling and Jones centre half and Young left back.

How many chances can a team miss in a season ffs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,948 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

There really isn't much more Rashford can do there. All he has to do is guide it in but Valdes anticipated that brilliantly.

    There was nothing in that.

Go down holding your face and the reff buys it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,948 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

That should be a yellow card for the Boro player

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,048 ✭✭✭Unearthly

Mata and rashford taken out, advantage for a cross....

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,369 ✭✭✭Rossi IRL

Bernardo pulls down Smalling in the box and then pulls down Rashford there.

No foul conceeded and no cards shown.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,388 ✭✭✭✭Jayop

Getting rode by the ref already. A nothing yellow for Jones and then two of our players taken out ruining a great situation and nothing. What a twat.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,388 ✭✭✭✭Jayop

That was a foul on Lingard too. ****ing **** refs.
