    Hi all,
Buying some fans for my PC but am having a hard time finding red LED 4 pin fans. Just wondering can the Asus Z170-P take 3 pin chassis fans?

Or should I get a cable splitter instead?

4 Pin is typical for the CPU cooler. Usually the case headers are tris (voltage not PWM).
    1 x CPU Fan connector(s) (1 x 4 -pin)
    2 x Chassis Fan connector(s) (2 x 4 -pin)

You have two tris to work with. Splitting them out is a good solution if you need more. Alternatively you can adapt Molex to fan header but then you need fan speed reducers too.

Any 4-pin fan header can take 3-pin fans; the 4th pin is for PWN control.

    What's pwn control?

Its PWM, Pulse Width Modulation. Basically a more accurate way of controlling a fan than pushing a variable voltage.

Case fans dont tend to use it so not worth worrying about.
