€5 on Hamilton to top FP2 @5/2 with Bwin.

Nope, he's onto the long runs and hasn't displaced Danny Ric.

€8 on Hamilton to take pole @EVS with Bwin.

I just can't fucking win in this market. It's either I lose a bet to Hamilton (see USA, Japan, Singapore) or a bet on Hamilton in the win/pole position market.

€6 on Massa to score points @EVS with BetStars. Ricciardo's just been moved out of his way to fit some new engine components, so he effectively starts 10th with a free choice of tyres for his opening stint, and he's fighting for his 2018 seat.

I've got £1.43 (€1.62) burning a hole in my BetVictor account, so I'm sticking that on both Mercs in the top 6 and Alonso not to score points @11/8.

Finally, €3 on Perez to win his group on Bet365 @7/2.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,935 ✭✭✭✭PopePalpatine

€5 on Max to set the fastest lap @4/1 with Bwin. Bet365 decided to freeze up while I was trying to bet on Max to lead the first lap (I figured he'd play it riskier in the 1st corner than Seb), so f*ck them.

Also on Bwin, €8.39 on a winning margin of over 6 seconds @13/20.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,935 ✭✭✭✭PopePalpatine

Normal service resumes for the log as Vettel takes the fastest lap, but at least Max thrashes Bottas. Also, Alonso holds off Massa for 10th, and Perez can't beat Ocon on home soil.

€2.50 e/w (1/5 odds for the top 3) on Vettel to top the 1st practice session @6/1 with Bet365.

€2 @5/2 for Alonso to finish top 6 in that session with Bwin.

€7 down the drain. I bet on the wrong Ferrari, and over-estimated how good the McLaren would be on that twisty middle sector.

Lewis is out without setting a lap in Q1, I think Seb is a bit overpriced for pole @7/5 with Bwin so I'll stick €7 on that, as well as €3 on Max to qualify in the top 3 @5/2, also with Bwin.

Final bets before the lights go out:

€4 on Vettel to win without Hamilton getting on the podium @12/5 with Paddy.
    €2 e/w on Max @12/1 (1/3 odds for 2nd) with Ladbrokes.
€2 on Seb to lead the first lap @10/3 with Paddy.

€5 on a winning margin of over 6 seconds @13/10 on Bwin. Bottas complained about his current set of tyres, I don't see him staying on Vettel's tail towards the end of the race.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,935 ✭✭✭✭PopePalpatine

Well that was a fine way to wipe out my profit.

The WRC season wraps up this weekend in Australia, and Thierry Neuville's title hopes were snuffed out as Sebastien Ogier retained his crown. However, there's a glimmer of hope - it's on gravel, and over the 7 gravel rallies so far this season, he has picked up 29 more points (excluding power stages) than the champion Ogier, only failing to make the podium once, in Finland. He's won the most gravel rallies this year, so I think he's worth betting €2 e/w to cap the season off successfully @5/1 (1/3 odds for 2nd) with Bet365. If you want a little less risk, Bwin offer evens for him to finish on the podium.

€5 on Vettel to win the Abu Dhabi GP @11/4 with Paddy. I think he's worth a punt at that price, and that he'll want to cap off 2017 by showing off what might have been had he not cocked up in Singapore. I think the Mercs are vulnerable thanks to that final sector filled with low-speed corners, and the set-up compromise might be too tricky for the "diva" W08.

€2 on Vettel to take pole @10/1 with BetVictor, I think that the track might cool enough to benefit the Ferraris in the final top 10 shootout.

Lance Stroll can take some consolation in recording the fastest pit stop and costing Bwin €24.75. :pac:

€2 e/w on Sam Bird to win in either of the two Hong Kong Formula E races this weekend @8/1 (1/4 odds for a podium finish, €8 total outlay) on Betway. I think Bird is a value pick, he finished 4th in the 2016/17 season, and picked up both winner's trophies in the New York double-header. At least if he gets one podium finish, that's 75% of my money back.
