Recently caught that masterpiece again in the cinema and was surprised at the number of people laughing at that diner scene, when they walk outside to the back of the place. That scene freaked me out when I first saw it and still does to this day!

    People can be weird.

Its Jennifer Melfi (Tony Sopranos psychiatrist). Never noticed that before and I've seen Goodfellas plenty of times. Talk about being type cast!

She was originally asked to play Carmella but she didn't take it for that very reason. She specifically asked for the role of Melfi then.

Surprised the voice didn't stand out! A bunch of actors were in both - Pauly, Chris, Uncle Pussy, Hesh, Johnny Sack and... ooohhhh, about 22 others! :p

Ya, I think if you`re an Italian actor in Hollywood and you haven't been in a good few mob movies/tv shows you need to find a new agent!
There`s a pretty decent crossover between Goodfellas and Casino too.

Didn't know this, its surprising. I thought she would have jumped at a main role like that. It put Edie Falco on the map.
Although I really hated Carmella as a character, very weak and happy to have blood money finance her lifestyle but still remained preachy and wasn't shy about commenting about other peoples choices. When herself and that priest did scenes together I found them highly irritating!

    Alien.

When Brett goes off looking for the cat and we meet the fully grown Xenomorph for the first time.

It's a stunning scene IMO, really makes me forget I'm watching a movie from 1979.

I never think about this while watching the movie, but who did leave the drapes open anyway? Presumedly not Fredo since he said he didn't know there was going to be a hit.

One of many things about that movie's convoluted plot that isn't explained or doesn't make sense. And yet it's still a great movie. Proof if there was that that plot doesn't matter as long as the audience is absorbed in the story of the characters.

Of course Fredo was a liar, just a very bad one.

I like nearly all the scenes in mullholland drive. The diner scene with scary guy out back. Club silencio. The crappy hitman. The audition.

But the coffee scene is great for sheer understated menace.

That bloody scene. It's a masterclass at building an horrific moment, with a payoff that really is scary. There's no reason for it to be so scary either. There's nothing particularly so about the "scary guy out back" to be honest, but it gets me every time.

    Some great suggestions here.

Manys the scene in In the line of fire but https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbCyTUSQ6fY is a little bit special. Have loved Malkovich ever since.

Trying not to give away if people havent seen it, but the scene leading up to cliff and thereafter is brillant. Its a brillant movie anyway but those last 20 minutes are superb.

What films have u seen but you'll watch just for 'that part'

Hahaha, LotM has been my favourite movie since I was about 7 for the scenery and the soundtrack. Watched it a few weeks ago for the first time in about ten years.

I watch the scene in Inception where DiCaprio wakes up out of limbo for the Hans Zimmer song and the shot of them all in the airport.

    Pulp Fiction.

When Jules and Vincent are cleaning up the car after Marvin gets killed.

Vincent is being pissy and talking about how you shouldn't drive a race car in the red.

Jules loses the rag and says (I'm writing from memory here so may be a little off)

    Oh you ready to blow?

Well I'm a mushroom cloud layin mothafcuka, mothafcuka

    I'm superfly TNT

I'm the guns of the Navarone

In fact, what the fcuk am I doin in the back?

You the mothafcuka that should be on brain detail

We fcukin switching, I'm washin the windows and you pickin up this niggas skull.

Its just a brilliant brilliant scene, the chemistry between JT and SLJ throughout is palpable.

QT gets a lot of stick from his critics but the man can write stunning dialogue.
