It is the only show that i leave down the phone for. Sad but that's the way i measure how good/bad television is these days.

    Brief description of episode 11
Offred faces a grueling challenge alone as she recalls her life as a mother; Serena and the Commander deal with the fallout of their actions towards Offred.

On reading the last sentence, wonder will they lose the right to have a child and June and the baby move to another family.

    Agree pretty much pointless.

If I had that shotgun I would have shot and killed both the Waterfords for everything they had done to me and taken there jeep.

    Then driven off to Canada.

Don't worry, it doesn't look like she'll be called "Offred" for much longer.

Bit of a filler ep. They could have done something interesting with the pregnancy and her being stranded and thats what they were clearly hinting to in the end of the last episode , but a big let down

And what was the point of the dog if it didn't even lead to an attack or any action. Was it a metaphor or something/

Exactly! And you gotta be kidding me with the whole
she can't get the car out of the garage
a few blasts of the shotgun would have weakened it enough to drive through. Instead she fires it into the air. Guess we have to wait til next week to find out what happened to Nick, too.

Really didn't enjoy that episode especially all the bloody noise. You could literally just watch the last 2 minutes, that's the only time anything significant happens.

Like I said before the series is now putting dragging the story out above the story quality itself. If I want that malarkey I'll dig out the Lost box set that I can't get even get rid of for a fiver at the local car boot.

Well I think its been a fairly strong season, this was just a bit of a blip imo. But at the same time, I heard the producer have potential 10 seasons in the pipeline which is a bit alarming. I knew that this show would struggle with pace, the whole premise is based on June trying to escape her captors. This has happened twice already , and nearly a third time last night, which would be getting ridiculous, as serena said she's escaped so many times they're going to think were part of the resistance. But there also needs to be hope that she will eventually escape for the show to remain fresh and interesting and not depressing. And when/if she does,it'll totally deflate. Its only interesting because we empathise with the main protagonist and try to imagine how horrible it must be to live her life under this regime and hope for a better life for her, its very personal, if she escaped I assume the show would become more general and zoomed out and be about other countries trying to invade gilead and not the viewers personal relationship with june's struggle, unless june becomes the head of some war effort which I doubt, it'll totally lose its vision and what it was all about
And I can't see any other alternative for the show, though despite that I think the writers managed to do it justice this season, though it is still suffering from that inevitable stagnation

The epilogue to the original book was set in what appears to be a restored liberal America, suggesting that Gilead is eventually overthrown, whether that be by Serena Waterford or external forces, but yes, there does seem to be a lot of padding in this series.

What are ye all on about?? I thought that episode was amazing! I was totally immersed in it. It was played out like a suspenseful horror movie all the way through and Moss knocked it out of the park.

Little Red Riding Hood and the wolf...

That was one of the best episodes, I thought. A lot of tension throughout.

I wanted June to blow Freds head off , then knee cap Serena before heading off to Canada to have her baby .

*A* review bears this out. Plenty of others do not.
Honestly, if you hate it that much I doubt it's going to do a sudden turn around so why keep watching?

Thought this was an excellent episode. Full of tension but also June's resolve. A bit bleak too though on the ending, basically saying that she'll lose Holly.

Yeah, I tend to read various reviews of each episode after I've watched it and they were universally full of praise for this episode and Moss's performance in particular.

I thought it was a great episode. Full of suspense but without the usual cliches you get in that scenario (no one hiding in the house and surprising June, no accidental loud noise alerting the Waterfords to her presence etc). That said I did think the wolf was a bit cheesey.

Did they explain why the house was empty?

And if the US government is now based in Anchorage as the radio report suggested then Gilead must occupy a much larger territory than we thought.

I presumed they had most of the continental 48 states.

I thought it was a great episode. The parallel with Little Red Riding Hood is spot on - even the reappearance of June's mom - the grandmother.

I dunno, I’d be siding with those on the negative side of the fence for that episode too.

Tense yes, but Jaysus it’s grim. Where’s the light?! I’m not sure where it’ll go next season, another season of June going through the worst life imaginable will be too much to take.

    Torture porn.

I thought it was a good episode last night. It was very emotional at the end when she gave birth.

I don't know the actors name in the main role but she is brilliant. The production values for this show are outstanding aswell.

Elisabeth Moss, she's incredible. Check out Mad Men if you've not already.

    Yeah it's a fantastic production.

Be somewhat in the middle on the episode, incredible acting again and some brilliantly filmed scenes but certain things just not adding up.

The baby is born and both she and the baby have food, is she worried about her health after having the kid that she will not have the strength to feed it?

Why didn't the eyes do a sweep of the house?

Why did she give up so easily on the car thing? There were definitely other ways of getting the door open and a few more rams probably would have done it too.

As said above, why not kill the Waterfords and take their jeep? Does she have some lingering attachment to them? Would seem unlikely.

The whole secret police elements to Gilead have been incredibly inconsistent this season. Why wouldn't they be bugging places of interest and why do they seemingly have free rein to act as they do? The organisational structure of Gilead just seems so all over the place you'd wonder how all of the commanders aren't engaging in petty feuds with each other.

I'm unsure why she didn't murder them when she had the chance too. Did she feel empathy for the crazy b!tch Serena? After all she's been put through, surely you'd pull the trigger, multiple times. That didn't really add up for me. Maybe she was trying to protect her unborn, and killing them would risk losing the kid. I dunno. Still, pull the fvcking trigger woman! Grrrrr.

They could do without the close ups of her sour puss all the time.

I took it that she didn't take a shot at the Waterfords because she couldn't take the risk of missing. And I think she gave up on the jeep because she went into labour.

Also Fred said they were leaving so I presume she felt it best to let them go thinking she was not there

The jeep i get, although she coulda tried burning the doors initially, but yeah, labour kinda got in the way.

The Waterfords, I'd have been getting the sharpest knives and going full psycho on them knowing there was nobody else around. She had a shotgun, so I'd have been either firing from what was quite a good vantage point, or going down to them to shoot from point blank range, or even calling out for help, lulling them into a room to slaughter the fvkcers.

I just can't quite see how she wouldn't pounce on that.

At this stage though, especially the rape last week, I'd have been sharpening a bloody bar of soap and stabbing them to death in front of everyone.

How much torture can one take?

Ah can people not accept some criticism too? It's a discussion thread. I hate threads that get all high and mighty, where only positive discussion is welcome.

I think it's one of the best shows on TV at the moment, but I welcome alternative opinions!
