Gent Wevelgem 2017

    Final hour or so of racing on now on ES. The most important thing to remember about this race is that the W in Wevelgem is pronounced as a V. Otoh the V in Wevelgem isn't pronounced as a W though you could try your hand at it if you want. Maybe something the organisers could look into in future editions of the race.

    Ryan Mullen apparently rode/riding a strong race in the early long breakaway.

    #GWE is all over the place. Mullen still toward the front of the race, jumping on a Quick Step move as the break dissolved.

    sagan van avermat and degenkolb on the front, hope sagan isnt setting this up for GVA or degenkolb

    You'd have to fancy GVA for this. Would be great for Keukeleire to win it.

    GVA wins and completes the treble of Omloot, E3 and Gent-Wevelgem in the one year. Keukeleire was 2nd and Sagan 3rd.

    Brilliant race. That bit of poker playing from Sagan & Terpsrta certainly didn't work out! Don't mess about when someone as strong as GVA is being let go up the road. Super effort from Keukeleire also.

    Sam Bennett managed a very respectable 17th place today. He was in the bunch that crossed the line just a few seconds behind GVA and Keukeleire.
