MCU1 fix currently is €3k. So if Tesla actually fix an MCU1 out of warranty by replacing it with an MCU2, that's a good deal. Better solution than before and significantly cheaper.

With a car in warranty, upgrading a working MCU1 to an MCU2 for €2,500? Indeed, good luck with that. I'd consider it for €250 tops :p

Plenty of owners are very keen to do this though, ELM327 has probably already booked himself in for one :D

When I drop of of warranty in over two years from now it will be covered with just a memory replacement/upgrade whilst on a UK road trip.
By then bound to have dropped from the current £500 mark and perhaps even improved somewhat

My stuff for sale on Adverts inc. EDDI, hot water cylinder, roof rails...

Already is. For an extra GBP100 they'll upgrade to 4G

That's the most important aspect of MCU2 in my book. Netlfix meh :p

I was just about to put a deposit on that high mileage Model S today but this has me re-thinking it. Would it make sense ot try and get it done before I get it shipped over? Any recommended UK places for the upgrade?

MCU1 fix is quoted at €460 for eMMc upgrade to 64gb and daughter board.

I wouldn’t be interested in the MCU2 upgrade but I would like connectivity upgrade to 4G.

    Maybe I’m totally misunderstanding ???

Click on the car at the bottom right of the screen to bring up the main car menu.
Click on Software at the bottom of the list of the left hand side
Car mileage and VIN is displayed, under the VIN click "Additional Vehicle Information"
This lists some additional info and in mine the second last info is
    "Motor type rear: Induction large

I'm just curious what the P model says for Motor type rear....
    Cheers

Engineer 2 : standard I think. So pass me a standard motor.
Engineer 1 : agh come on John, it’s Friday, this the last build and then standard motors are in the other room. ...... hang on, there’s a P one here.
    Engineer 2 : pass me that. :)

    Very possible.
I seen a YT clip with Bjorn, and a P85 that had a HV battery replaced with a 90 unit, the screen shows P90 now so it makes sense.

I do 0-100 many times a day. Never time them though :)

Looks like a P motor alright, mine says the same. Doesn't mean you get the performance though. If the controller still thinks it's a normal motor, you only get normal amps. A bit similar to the first P dual cars that Tesla claimed had 700bhp. Yeah, right. Maybe they did, but they didn't give anywhere near that to the car :p

That’s the argument around the P85D stating it has 691bhp which is just a sum of the power of the 2 motors if I’m right?

But in reality it’s like 500bhp plus or something along those lines? Still bloody quick though!

Took the new update down last night, the alerts to your phone if you leave any door/boot/window open is good, I like that if you are charging via CCS the charge port will automatically unlock now when you stop the charging at the charge point.

Are you getting alerts to say multiple windows are not closed?

    Charging Question.

I currently have a BMW Wallbox that charges my MS at 7kw.
I am removing it to make some space and have it sold.

Will the Tesla UMC 3P with the associated commando connection give me 7kw?

Where are you plugging the UMC into, that will determine the rate e.g. if you hook up to 3p caravan supply then yes you should get your 7.4, some of those blue connections are not 3p though so if they are 2p then you are back to 16amp equivalent eg some golf buggy chargers or at the races the blue chargers for horse box hook up and then you getting 3.x charge

So, after a hugely scientific single roughly timed 0-100kms/hr at 5.9seconds I would say I have a P motor however the motor controller restricts it to regular performance in terms of RPM.
    Ah well, not bothered

Cool, it should be on by default and I was getting the notifications immediately after the update. From a google it’s a common issue.

I sat in the car, rolled down each window one by one keeping the button pressed for 2 seconds at the bottom and 2 seconds at the top for each window and it fixed the bug.

Just for anyone that might get it.

I was going to connect a commando socket in my garage at the side of the house and just plug in there. It’s single phase and currently ok for 7kw with the existing charger.

I was going to replace my existing chargepoint with this - https://www.screwfix.ie/p/abb-32a-2p-e-surface-socket-250v/9990F?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpd6zn6vU6wIVh-7tCh2LeQQVEAQYASABEgIDqvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

    LTE = 4G innit?

Looks like your car must have been upgraded at some point

Maybe it was a UK car and the MCU was fixed by an indy over there? Does your internet feel fairly quick (it is fairly slow on 3G as you can imagine) - do your Google maps refresh quickly?
