Got new hiking boots 3 weeks ago, went from Hi-Tec Ottawa (fell apart after 3 months) to Scarpa Delta GTX Activ. Weekend gone done hike in Galtees on Sunday, very warm. But also went from Brand "silverpoint comfort Hiker" to "Silverpoint Merino wool all terrain" and after an hour or so noticed, what I now know is a hot spot on right foot, thought it was going to burn ball of ,my right foot. Left foot not to bad. Would it be, socks are to warm "Merino" or ?? I know my right foot is a little smaller and may be moving slightly when climbing. Should I change back to Comfort hiker brand or maybe go Bridgedale !!! or gel insoles . All advice welcome.... thanks. Didn't wear either brand from package without wearing around house in boots and washing before setting out on hike

gel insoles are utter garbage , superfeet or ones like it are far superior. Is your foot moving around much and did you get measured before getting the boot . I tried the scarpa and felt it ran a half size bigger than usual boots. Could also just need a few more hikes for boot to break in try a pair of socks that you used with old boots and you know you didn't get hot spots from to eliminate socks .

I have used insoles simply to "fill out" boots and trail shoes, rather than the advertised benefits. Wouldn't go out and buy a pair, just used them from other runners.
