Starships 5 & 6 made it to the West coast off Australia and made soft (accurate) landings in the Indian ocean.

Starships 7 & 8 blew up minutes after separation from the booster.

    What has gone wrong?

They're different spacecraft. IFT 1-6 used Block 1 ships. IFT 7 and 8 have been Block 2 ships. They're bigger, carry more fuel, have a different flap setup and use different/uprated engines.

Time for Starship to be banned. Too dangerous.

Another Starship test flight tonight (00:30 in the morning)

They'll be re-using the booster that was flown and caught on flight7, but there'll be no catch attempt this time.

Lets hope the starship makes it further than the last couple times...

In and of itself no. It's how it's used. And yes they should have to pay the airline diversions.

The universe is probably littered with the one-planet graves of cultures which made the sensible economic decision that there's no good reason to go into space--each discovered, studied, and remembered by the ones who made the irrational decision. https://xkcd.com/893/

Regulatory capture of the FAA by Musk & co. though is dangerous every single day , not just when they are testing rockets. And billionaires care more about their money than other people's lives.
