filling after root canal before crown?

I got a root canal treatment on my tooth yesterday by a specialist, he placed a temporary filling on my tooth,

now i understood it was to stay until I got this replaced with the crown.
my own dentist practice called me later that day, and said that i was to get a filing on the tooth, and that they recommended that i get my teeth whitened before the crowns,
I have a few concerns, and was wondering if anyone knew anything about this?

I am just wondering is it necessary to get a filling on this tooth before i get the crown or is it actually pointless, as they will be crowned soon.

and teeth whitening i have a number of fillings and am concerned that these won't whiten and then i have an added cost of refilling teeth to match the teeth that have been whitened.

I am spending considerable money on my teeth to stabilise them, I don't actually have very much money and as these extra costs are something I don't mind doing if necessary, but I am not sure about any of the things I have mentioned.
I would be grateful for any advice.

If you're happy with the current shade of your teeth, then you don't *have* to whiten them.
If you're getting a porcelain (tooth coloured) crown as opposed to a gold crown, then the shade of the new crown will be matched to the shade of your own teeth, be they whitened or not whitened.
If it's a front tooth, & your natural teeth are quite dark& you're conscious of them, imho it's worth spending the bit extra on whitening. You can change white fillings later, whereas you probably won't be changing this crown for 10-15yrs.
If it's a back tooth& not really visible, you'll probably be fine to defer the whitening for now if you're not bothered by a shade discrepancy at the back of your mouth

It's normal to have a "core" filling material under a crown, sealing the root canal filling& also acting as a partial base for the crown.
