A lot of the time the club s run packages, so there might have been a prematch lunch or dinner or other function included which wasn't mentioned to you. These are the club's reason for the markup. They say it's not actually a markup but you are paying for xyz.

Maybe, definitely no mention of anything like that in my case, just the ticket,

I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what they say. I have said it to a few of my mates who told me that it's becoming normal for a club to put a mark up on it, usually about €10 or €20. I guess because it was a quarter final they upped that.

The Munster clubs have been doing this for years with big Heineken Cup matches. I know of two Limerick clubs selling terrace tickets for €20 and €30 above face value. There were other clubs selling stand ticket packages for €120 which included a meal. They clubs will tell you that they need these funds to survive. It's one of the main reasons I joined the MRSC back in the day.

Clubs giving away tickets in raffles I've seen, 40 people at €4/5 a pop would leave you with a tidy profit and its fine with the branch.
Selling above face value for just the ticket alone is scalping and the Munster brand to not tolerate it. If a clubs gets reported for doing this they are investigated and might even get their allocation of future tickets reduced or taken away. It always hard to confirm though as it's a cash transaction.

Will tickets for the semi be on Ticketmaster?

Probably but not before the members get a shot at them.

Saracens will get an allocation too. If they take their whole allocation (and they don't end up on sale a few days before the game) I will be shocked.

We could confuse them by telling them that they will need visas now because Brexit. :D

Quick question, I got tickets for the match yesterday (great game) but I got the tickets through a local rugby club but they charged twice the face value. Is this normal? I've never got tickets this way before.
Twice face value no but a mark up is far from out of the ordinary and is used by clubs to reinvest in club.
    Kagawa wrote: »
Maybe so, if the money went to the club then I wouldn't mind, I collected the tickets from the club house and from a club official so it's not a private sale imo.

    Thanks Erik
Contact the club and otherwise contact the branch as if a club is selling tickets above price they can lose their allocation or have it reduced for the future.

A few clubs were charging over the asking price, their websites would have had details though.
    Not really.Websites wouldnt mention it.
Is it? How can that kind of ****e be let go?
If income from tickets being sold above price is reinvested in clubs then it will be let go,
Clubs shouldn't charge over face value bar an agreed "club levy" with Munster.
If money is going into the club i dont see too much of an issue unless its twice the value but 5/10/15 euro...

Its not just munster clubs. Happens nationwide.

Still no word on semi-final dates then.. Thought it would be today but maybe they're holding off til later in the week?

Think I saw BT showing Munster v Saracens likely to be the Saturday. Sky showing Clermont v Leinster the Sunday. Guess it has to be formalised but don't think there's huge amount to be decided.

Likely 1 of the Challenge Cup semis will be on the Friday night, the other after Munster's game (assuming it's the Saturday). And guessing afternoon 3pm kick-off in that case but nothing definite til it's confirmed.

Yeah, it's confirmed that the Munster game is on BT. 3.15 Saturday is most likely to avoid clashing with the English soccer.

Yeah all the PL games then seem to be kicking off at 3pm..

Even though it's more or less known, the waiting is killing me! :P

There is probably no team I'd rather Munster beat on the road to the final than Saracens.

Big time. Current Champions and Premiership champions. Have to win games like this if we hope to lift a trophy.

Yeah, obviously I'd love Leinster to win but for the year that's in it I'd have absolutely no issue Munster lifting either title.

Not even in a match. Just pull over to the hard shoulder and give them a few slaps.

To be honest, I just couldn't bet against Leinster this season, some of the attacking play this season has been a pleasure to watch.

And in the same spirit, nothing would give me greater joy than Munster beating Saracens. :)

A double whammy if you will.

Clermont on the other hand have so much class about them; from the fans to the players to the club ethos. Still want to beat them though. :)
