Equity Advice - New Job

I'm likely to be offered a role next week, the company is private but is successful and self-funding.

Part of the package is equity in the business, the role is senior but i wouldn't be a director, i'd have a large input into steering the company strategy in the coming years.

However this is the first time i'm going to be working in this set up, all previous experience was with MNC's.

I know roughly what the company revenues are and ultimately if they were bought they would be bought by a factor of revenue (or profit) by years, potentially they could do an IPO.

Any advice on what % i should be looking for?

    And sorry for the vagueness!
