He didn't lose any time though they said as it was neutralised due to crash

The crash was incidental. He didn't get caught up in it I don't think.
He won't lose any time because he was with the main group until he got that puncture in the final km.

And its the Queens stage with loads of climbing

    Short and sharpe stage#
Ordinarily I would pick Contador for this but he has been on the ground so much one wonders if he is ok

Valverde and his fast movistar team will set a blistering pace

Heano and SKY will also add to the speed

But maybe Ion Izagirre or Uran or Bardet ?

Valverde has been exceptional this year so I reckon he'll take the stage honours. My second guess would be Henao.

Same as yourself I don't think Contador will win.

Hope its a good stage no matter who wins

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,255 ✭✭✭MPFGLB

Alberto Contador, after a crash, a mechanical, and a puncture on yesterday's stage, has punctured inside the neutralised zone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder is it the Trek bike ??

Quite unusual that the breakaway was caught with so much left to go to the finish. Serious tempo by the peloton.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,255 ✭✭✭MPFGLB

Orica are up for this and Yates I suppose

Hope they dont run out of steam though

And dont be surprised if Simon Clarke goes well ....he is in stella form !!!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,425 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

Hard to see anyone getting a gap out in front of the peloton with this pace.

I think they were all racing for 2nd place behind Valverde, he's just too good at the moment.

WTF happened to Sammy Sanchez though!

SAMU came out of no where and was leading...top descender ...but team says he hit a stone in the middle of the road

Valverde is very good but Cannodale could have attacked as had 2 riders

Wondered will COntador win the TT and by enough ....Love if Uran won it though

Just watched the video of the last 15km. Some finish. Looking at contador he seems to have lost it (maybe past it at this stage), shot overhead where riders around him just blast off and he either doesn't have the legs or wasnt paying attention. Climb looked savage. Sammy seemed to travel a fair bit off the bike on that fall. Say that,ll hurt in the morning

SAMU wont start tomorrow Had an operation on his hand

So on to the last stage

Lots of fans disappointed with the racing and the parcours but its still all up for grabs as to who will be on the podium and who will win the overall

Contador, Valvede, Uran, Bardet, Woods, Meintjes,... Izzagirre, Henao

And who will win the TT

Any of the above and maybe Roglic or Kiryenkia

Most likley it will be between Contador , Valverde and Izagirre

    I'd love Uran to win

I'd say the 2 crashes in the previous day took their toll and he looked like he went the narrower side of the crash and lost touch rapidly. With a TT today, he might have figured he had a chance. Not at his best but not past it

Some big big chainrings on view for this TT.

Not keen on Bertie's bike choices this season. Road bike today with a bike change to come. He rode an adapted Madone frame with TT bars in Paris Nice.
