With regards the whole split headlights debate I actually like them on the Octavia but saw this pic for what they could/will look like on the Superb and think it looks awful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,158 ✭✭✭TheShow

oohhh, that is rather ugly. i Like it on the Octavia, but i think thats the wrong direction for the Superb. that is just wrong, the superb is a beauty as it is. it doesn't need to be changed up.

Horrible on the superb reminds me of someone with a big head and tiny glasses, weird aren't I ?

Superb front looks like the e class from a few years ago.

That must be a typo. 300kg is just impossible - that's the difference between BMW 7-er and Ford Focus...

Found it, 300kg weight saving is on the 1.0 TSI over the 2.0 TDI engine.

    It's about 100kg difference, not 300kg.

    It's in the brochure here:

325kg difference between the 1.0 TSI & 2.0 TDI 4x4 RS, thats what they were aiming at I guess.
c100kg differential on the standard 2.0 TDI

The auto box and 4wd system are obviously going to add weight but they're implying it against all the 2l models. Also weighs the same as the engine it replaces too so just sloppy fact checking on their part tbh.

I agree. sure journalism is a shoddy practice these days, no professionalism left in it. All about the sensational headlines for clickbait.

went for black style model, 1.0 tsi to be frugal!
no much extras wise, just the tinted back windows. kept it simple, plenty of kit in the style model.

Same as myself I got the DSG in race blue also with the sunset glass. I added the adaptive interior lighting and as a real treat the adaptive cruise control too.

Fabulous. What's the 1.0 like? I'm kinda nervous it'll be underpowered compared to the 1.4

Can you hear the fuel sloshing around in the new octavia like in the previous model? After filling up you can hear it for the first 200k when breaking /accelerating

I've never heard that in any of mine.

Haven't heard the fuel sloshing around, I'll listen out for it though.

I was worried about the power too, but so far it's been all good. Same bhp as the focus I traded in, but the Octavia is 100 times smoother. Haven't been on a big spin yet but so far I've been happy with th power.

Very nice, is the chrome all around the window standard on the new style model?

No they only chrome the bottom half. I added the top portion.. ordered from AliExpress

It looks nice, is it hard to fit? I've never had success with AliExpress anything I ordered never arrived.

Very straightforward..3m tape on back... hopefully it stays...seems quite solid..sort of fits naturally against rubber. I've never had problem with AliExpress only the length of time to deliver.. I did get stung with 25 euro customs. I could have probably avoided with parcel motel..

very nice job. I think its a bit bizarre that they only chrome the bottom.

Ordered end of May, delivered end of Aug.
absolutely love it. looking for any excuse to go for a drive in it. Had a nice long spin today, taking in a few motorways and good long stretches to open her up. Zero concerns on the power front, plenty of poke.

Lovely lovely, can't wait for my own at this stage. Any idea of fuel consumption? I certainly can't fault the 1.4 in that regard.

Anyone with real world experience of the new 1.0 TSI engine? On the edge of diesel/petrol mileage so would prefer to stay with petrol and this sounds like it could be economical enough from the reviews. Decent torque and HP too, just wondering if anyone has had one for a while and how they find it.

That's the engine the show has, he seems very impressed so far. When mine turns up I'll keep you posted. If its half as good as the 1.4 I have at present is I'd be very happy.

Have mine 7 months now, can't fault the engine so far. Loads of poke and around 50mpg mixed driving.

In all my years driving petrol diesel and LPG I've never cracked the magic 50 mpg, looks like I'm in with a shout with this car.

Being honest with a very light foot I reckon 60 mpg wouldn't be out of the question!

Cant say much for the economy at present, I haven't really been tracking it. I've been driving it like I stole it the last few days, novelty factor etc. It's so effortless, smooth and quiet, and all from the 1.0 TSI which has plenty of poke.
I drove to Airside this morning from Blesso and the fuel range went from 200km to 210km by the time I arrived! The onboard computer gives you all sorts of breakdowns of data. I'll check it in a moment see if I can get data from last journey!

I went for the 1 litre petrol DSG, the engine feels quite tight so I'm taking it easy for the first 1000-1500 km performance certainly feels impressive, I've 300 km done since yesterday, any excuse to drive it tbh. The display is reporting 48 mpg but it looks like it consumed more going by the gauge. They gave it to me with about three quarters of a tank I'm going to use that up and then fill it and set everything to zero and see what I get. Thanks for the good wishes.

Enjoy. I'd love to try the 1.0 dsg to see how she compares to the 2.0 tdi dsg. I'm really enjoying mine. I'd happily buy another one..

It's a great engine no way you'd ever think it's a 1 litre never mind having only 3 cylinders!! This is my fourth Octavia... Sad aren't I? I hope it hasn't inherited any problems from the VW chocolate 1.2 that was in the Polo.

The gauges are never linear. At first it does not move at all, and 3/4 usually means around 50% of the tank, 1/2 is around 35% and 1/4 around 20%.

I never take any notice of the gauge, fill and arithmetic is the only way. I won't start taking readings until I've done 1500km or so.

Fantastic, every bit as lively as the 1.4 I had. I'll let it stretch it's legs in a couple of months.
