€99.9990 on Paddy's Day, where you watching a parade on RTE Player?

When is the money (including lost growth) Michael Noonan took in the Pension Levy going to be paid back?

Leanne any part of this you find misleading.
Where would I have found out that the Fair use (Assuming I knew there was a fair use clause) was 1TB.

Hi Gaelmart,

I am sorry to hear that you thinking of moving providers. I am afraid we do have a fair usage policy of 1 terabyte put in place for broadband usage. I do apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Thanks,
Leanne

Well, they also have a "fair usage policy". They just don't say what it is. Have fun with that.

I asked them:

"We do indeed provided unlimited broadband- no matter what your usage is in the month your price will never change. Just send us your phone number and we can give you a ring to set you up."

If your printout shows 70 GB used, and your allowance is 1 TB(ie 1000 GB ),am i being thick wondering why there is a charge at all?
Edit:you actually used nearly 2 TB !.
Did you try and download the internet?

Bit unintuitive to have Unlimited usage remaining, but I'd take it as a learning experience OP, the info is there and €100 is dirt cheap for 800gb out of plan.

Well, if you download a HD film you use about 4GB. So about 450 films :)

If you left Netflix constantly streaming for the month, you wouldn't use half that.

You're using 2.5GB AN HOUR for a WHOLE MONTH

That for me would fall outside anyone's definition of fair usage.

Its not actually that impossible to gov over the unlimited Fair use policy considering;

I am currently in dispute with Eir over this and the way in how they advertise this.

Make an official complaint with the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission and Comreg.

I was receiving daily phone calls from Eir's credit control department for my unpaid excessive useage charges, (I am withholding all charges they charge me for excessive use). I got fed up with thr daily calls so I decided to play with them. I started recording the conversations with them the minute they said, "This Phone call may be recorded for training and quality purposes", so I started recording.  This confused them because they believed recording a telephone conversation only went one way, they then started reading out a whole host of questions for me to agree with before continuing with the telephone call due to me recording it. I asked if they agreed to these terms of recording at which point they became further confused and refused to agree to the terms, at which point I said if they couldn't agree neither could I. This went on for a week until a supervisor called me and then after the same conversation I never received a call since.

Also another dodgy thing Eir do is that when you check your Eir usage for Broadband it resets each month on the 1st, however according to Eir your actually Broadband usage stats only start from your billing date.  So despite myeir telling me I have used X amount of broadband usage from the 1st, My real total started on the 11th.  How do I get my real usage?  You have to manually record your daily usage from the start date of your billing date and ignore the online usage data information. Unbelievable carry on!

Another crazy thing I only discovered today is they have now enabled Guest Wifi on everyone's Broadband router, that now means anyone who has an Eir Broadband account can log onto your network using wifi and access your broadband.  Eir claim this does not effect your Broadband usage, Sure eir I beleive you!

What Eir dont tell you is that if someone is accessing your broadband it will actually lower your speeds, and they allow upto 20 connections!

I even asked Eir why was it that when I was using DSL I never got charged for excessive usage once and that has a fair usage limit of 500gb, however since moving to Fibre I regularly reach or go over 1tb despite the way I access Broadband not changing at all!  Clearly something is not right, but Eir for some reason are refusing to speak to me despite being directed by Comreg to do so!

Cant wait for my contract to be over, I will be off and never look back.  Never known such a shoddy service that is full of lies and lack of customer service.

Just as a word of warning, if you find you are using that amount, which to me slightly higher than normal considering how many devices can connect and use networking in the background these days.

Anyway back to my point, which is this. If you can't account for high data usage I would start by scanning all computers connected to the router for malicious files on them.

2TB wouldn't be a lot to rack up really if you think about it, you could have 3/4/5/6 people in a house all doing different things, Facebook, YouTube, streaming audio, streaming video, computer consoles for gaming, mobile phones, TV connected. It can all add up quite quickly.

Also, maybe worthwhile changing the wifi password also, just in case neighbours or someone have gained access.

Is this actually happening? maybe thats why the op's usage was way over the top.

Don't Virgin do that also? And split the signal so as it doesn't effect (affect?) the owners usage?

Joking aside, wasn't there some bot net type thing going on with Eir's routers?

Yes.... they dont log on to your network. they log into a completely separate and dedicated WAN for this purpose but using your router, yes. .... Also they can't see anything, IP's, clients, nothing at all like that, and no, it should not affect your broadband speed and nothing that anyone on this network downloads contributes to your allowances

BTW it works both ways meaning as an Eir customer you could log in to another one of these networks when out and about etc

OP do you have Eir TV maybe?
