    Hi,

I know it might be difficult.to.goce an estimate, but hopefully.someone can help give.a rough idea.

Pur hoise.is a sngle.story.bungalow.built.2001, standard block construction and aeroboard cavity insulation.

We have a set of external double doors next to a window at the gable.end of.the house. Bot th door and.window are the exact same width, and both reach tthe same height.

We are looking to swap positions, ie move the door.to.the window and the window to the door location re using both window and door.

So thus involves.removing both, bulding up the base.of.the old door position to build a new sill height for the.window. then installing both again and plastering.internally and externly.

Can anyone give.an estimate.in man days that this would take and approximate cost.

One quote came.in at 4 days for two people which seems.excessive ?

4 days is good. I would aim for 5 days as follows:

Day 1) Take out window & door carefully & remove the wall below the window. board up to make secure.
Day 2) Build up low wall for new window position fit window sill & temporary fix in place double doors. Make up timber reveals, fix in place & plaster the reveals
Day 3) 1st coat plaster to the walls.
Day 4) Finish plaster internally & externally.
Day 5) Fit skirting boards, make good the flooring, clear the site etc. etc.

Small job in theory but lots of little bit involved!

Thanks tradesman, day 5 is not really.needed as we have a refit of the skirting and floor planned separately.

With respect.to.the other 4 days, do you think k.that its a two man job, ie 8 man days ?
Got.quoted.around one thousand Euro for the job?

You might be getting a builder who operates by himself & has a helper / skilled labourer & sub contracts other trades. The helper still has to be paid each week

In fairness, getting quoted around 1000euro for that job is fair and reasonable. I couldn't see much that you could get off the price or argue with.
