Greipel is with Boonen- but they are probably too far back with 12km to go

Sean saying that he would fancy Stybar in a sprint ahead of GVA. I'm surprised by that.

Probably cos he's just sitting on the wheels of the other 2

    GVA looks banjaxed there

Sean is now calling the Quickstep rider 'Shteevun' a mixture of Stybar and Stuyven I think.

Stybar as a CX rider would have a very good finishing kick; but in the velodrome all can change

Styber would be really annoying me now

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,425 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

Langeveld could win this because GVA and Stybar are looking at each other the whole time.

Get in there GVA and to beat Stybar into 2nd makes it even better

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,343 ✭✭✭Daroxtar

    GVA is a savage

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,425 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

I think we can all agree that GVA is the deserved winner

Deserved winner & all this after chasing back on twice! Great ride from a great rider. Chapeau!

Right, I better get my backside up off the couch. I've barely moved for about 5 hours :o

Fxxx You Shteebur/Shtuyven/Stybar or whatever and all that silly shenanigans. No point whacking the handlebars

Best man won in the end

Chapeau GVA. Fully deserved on the day & on what he'd done coming into it. Glad Stybar didn't get it. They could have all looked pretty stupid if one of the 2 who caught them somehow had a big sprint left in the legs.

Greipel got 7th, glad to see him get an admirable result like that.

    Well done GVA.

    What happened to Sagan?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,243 ✭✭✭Boscoirl

Got my timings wrong, only caught the last 7k

    Well done GVA.

    What happened to Sagan?

Punctured/Mechanical at the business end of the race, he had been motoring.

3 sprinters in the top ten, they being Greips, Demare & Degenkolb.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,425 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

    102 riders finished.

Ryan Mullen came 50th, just under 10 minutes behind GVA. Nice job.

Great days entertainment and racing. Who knows how far that sagan break could have went if not for the bike hassle. Greipal getting seventh was brillant. It's been great seeing him work for teammates in the last few years in cobble classics.

Even the pros can get lost and end up on the motorway... :o:D

Andrea Guardini explained what happened on Facebook, revealing that after pulling out of Paris-Roubaix at the second feed station, his UAE Team Emirates squad had advised him to ride to the finish. He tried to find the best route to Roubaix but ended up on the E23 motorway
