    Score lads?

    Ospreys 8 - 7 Leinster

Cronin scores a beauty from the wing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,706 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Actually that was a lovely backhand pass from Henshaw to draw the last man for Cronin.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,440 ✭✭✭The Rape of Lucretia

Boy was Henshaw slow there again when in space- like last week - and shown up by a hooker a few moments later. Is this the flaw that is being kept quiet, and the real reason he is seen as a 12 only, rather than a 13 or 15 as some of his fans would advocate ?

This is turning out very like the Munster/Ospreys game. All the presume coming from the Welsh side and looking dangerous, but not racking up points and leinster sneaking back in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,914 ✭✭✭Rigor Mortis

Sure tipuric dragged down that maul

    Conan The Beast.

The handling in contact is appalling.
On another note the Welsh crowd are as pathetic as ever

    Ah Jaysus Ruddock butchered that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,883 ✭✭✭shuffol

That's where Ruddock loses out to the likes of VDF, Leavy or Conan for me.

    Great stuff from Ferg.

    Both in numbers and attitude.

    Awful from lacey there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,914 ✭✭✭Rigor Mortis

Hard to decide who is the bigger tool there, Lacey or JGP?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,455 ✭✭✭Dave_The_Sheep

That is despicable from Lacey. They make metre after metre in a scrum, but no, that's for some reason a turnover.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,706 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Butchered try aside Ruddock has been decent. Getting through a lot of work.

Henshaw is carrying on his great form So well. It's noticeable how much more he gets into wider areas for Leinster and he does a lot of damage.

I'm happy with how we're getting back into the game.

I'm disappointed with how little likes my OP got.

    Are you not entertained?

How has Lacey given that penalty. That's clearly holding on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 937 ✭✭✭Kevski

    What the hell, Lacey?

Telling a scrum-half to use the ball when the scrum is marching forward infuriates me to no end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

    Lacey was 100% wrong.

But JGP/Conan were 1000% wrong to ignore him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,918 ✭✭✭yosser hughes

Going from a scrum penalty that should have been given to Leinster, to a scrum awarded against and then gives them a penalty.
    Lacey is an awful ref

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,728 ✭✭✭Former Former

Ugh. Lacey not at all to blame there lads.

When the ref is shouting "use it", you may want to do so.

Criminal stupidity from JGP and Conan

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 937 ✭✭✭Kevski

What reason did Lacey have for telling Leinster to use it? A farcical call to make considering that the Leinster scrum was moving forward.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 216 ✭✭lotmc

Unforgivable to ignore two very clear directives to use it

What reason was there for shouting it? Because he felt like it?

The best thing about it is the poll to be fair, so well done on that.
Otherwise, I didnt know people actually read match OPs.
Good effort though - graphics definitely better than the Leinster website itself.

(Oh - that kick about writing out the players' full names in the team listings - jars a bit).

He said to JGP that it was static when he first said use it. It started moving again, but he called it again (which a lot of refs wouldn't do) and Conan should have lifted it after that second call. Turned into 3 easy points.

Agreed, but that doesn't mean there's not blame to lay on both doors. Both JGP and Lacey can both be wrong simultaneously (and they are).

Because he thought it had stopped going forward.

Lacey might be an eejit, but the eejit has the whistle and you do what he tells you.

It wasn't moving forward when he called it. But then it started moving orward. That's the way scrums are.

It's a stupid black and white law, Lacey was too quick to tell him to use it, and JGP and Conan were really silly to ignore him.

    It's just really frustrating.

I just saw the replay of the Cronin try, great hands and WHAT a swerve!

Fair enough. Seems like a poor decision to call it again once it started moving though. You'd imagine JGP and Conan were thinking that they could continue as the scrum was moving and no longer static. Fault on both sides it seems.

We're missing SOB's carrying, Ringrose - both in defence and offence, and Triggs. Kearney very quiet in his place. 10 handling errors making things look worse than they are though. Still reckon we'll shade it.

Lacey was absolutely to blame. He didn't allow play to develop. When the scrum started moving forward why did he continue to shout "use it"?
I think it was petulance by him; as he didn't like being second guessed.
He should have used better judgement than he did. That's his job.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,706 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

    Leavy on for Conan.

No. Once he calls it once that's it. You cannot start moving forward again once the scrum becomes stationary.

Maybe Lacey was too quick to call "use it" first time but once he did, it was down to Conan and JGP to comply. Their fault, 100%

It looks like our 8 and 9 don't know the rules tbh.

He knows the rules. That's his job. He can't shout "use it" then shout "never mind, carry on!"

Gibson Park is not a starter.

  • If you just call use it before a scrum can develop at all there might as well just not be scrums. Particularly when nobody was infringing. Leinster can clearly get a nudge on their own ball but aren't going to be allowed to because... well, there's no good reason. Terrible refereeing.

    Beautiful from JGP and Cronin

Lovely ball from the non starter too

  • That pass off the scrum was a mile forward.

Whoever won that penalty, huge moment in the game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,288 ✭✭✭crisco10

How did lacey not see that forward pass?
