Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Industry to Consultancy Practice

How realistic would a move from Industry to a consultancy practice be?

I am a part qualified accountant (sitting final chartered exams this year) working in quite a broad accounting role at a medium sized manufacturing company. I'm happy where I am for the time being but I'd love to get into a consulting role at some point in the not so distant future, even if it were at grunt level.

I think I'd really enjoy the diversity of working with multiple clients and all that that entails (understanding company and core activities, understanding their issues, problem solving etc.). At some point I'd like to branch out and set-up my own product based business and that variety of exposure would be hugely beneficial.

I expect that it's probably an unrealistic hope on my part but I thought I'd ask anyway in the vain hope that I'm wrong.

What sort of consulting do you mean?

Have a look at the jobs available in a few of the types of companies you would like to work for and see what they are looking for.

If it is classic management consulting I imagine it would be a hard move to make directly - work in practice or an MBA might be required.
