    Hi All,

Anyone have an idea what the Rapid Growing Monster in the photo is?

I have just pulled it up out of the ground and it wasn't there last year so it has grown to that size in just a few short months.

It had an extensive root network spreading around 5cm below the soil as well.

I wonder should I burn this?

    Thanks in advance.

A tip of the hat to you Sir!
    Well played.
I feel bad now, I've just burned it as a precaution, roots and all.
Are Elder trees something some of you would have kept?

Would it not be a popular ? The bark looks very bright for elder.

It could also just possibly be an ash or a buddleia, but I agree it looks like an elder - the leaves do not look like poplar. And I don't think you would want any of those growing in the middle of a lawn in a suburban garden :D

This may be of added assistance. There was a slightly unpleasant smell from the tree when I took it up. By the way, I found another one in the exact opposite raised Dublin Bay Rose bed on the other side of the garden. I pulled that one up as well.
